Theme/Mood:
The Mage Venue games we host here will have the standard theme of Traditions versus Conventions with a few curves thrown in for flavour... Maurauders wandering by or even settling down in Omaha, and for the more observant...a subtle undercurrent of Nephandic influence running through in a sickeningly sweet vein. The Traditions are well established here and there is a base of operations for the Technocracy here in Omaha as well... how unfortunate for the Council. You can cause miracles of titanic proportions to happen if you know how to tap into the wonder of the worlds... Come, battle the forces of Mundanity with the sheer power of your own will. Outwit the propaganda machine of the Technocracy, avoid or confront the imbalanced Maurauders, seek and destroy the insidious Nephandi, and if youre lucky you can even slip by the all-powerful Paradox Spirits Join us, the Council of Nine Mystical Traditions in our noble fight to maintain the belief and integrity of Magick. From the monklike Akashic Brotherhood to the avant-garde neo-classical tech of the Virtual Adepts, join us and help defend the last bastion of true reality... Do you want to believe?

The Storytellers of the Mage Venue wish to bring out the creativity and quick-witted response in our players, as well as well-thought out strategic moves. Think of it as a game of Speed Chess on a citywide scale with yourselves as the pieces. Mate in 3 years? Or will the opening gambit throw the doors open? Listen to some of the songs by the group Lit, and thatll get you in the theme for this game especially Over my Head. Techno-Goth-Punk fits Mage well.

Character restrictions:
A different World of Darkness than the WoD of the other venues, so we dont really want to see the old hat, "I like to turn vampires into lawnchairs" concepts... these concepts will be rejected. We want concepts that show some subtle mannerisms, in depth characters what was your Mages fathers college roommates girlfriends cousins neighbors cat like? If you need to go OOC, find an IC reason for your character to leave. Orphan Characters will be looked at with the highest scrutiny. Original concepts for Orphans only we want not only detailed backgrounds in advance, we want their entire paradigm shift in advance, why cant they be part of one of the established Traditions? Due to the nature of the plotlines planned, we will also be discouraging concepts involving defecting from the Technocracy not that they wont be allowed, we just want highly detailed reasoning and backgrounds. If you bring us a Marauder or Nephandi concept we will point at you and laugh in a superior fashion.

Characters must define a focus for each sphere. Any focus which covers more spheres than the character's Arete rating will need to be thoroughly justified and explicitly approved by the lead ST.

Membership in Factions (which have a mechanical difference) within a Tradition is discourged. The ST requires a writeup on par or even better than the Orphan requirements before such characters can be approved.

Proxy rules:
As per current Cam supplement.

Proxy Rules for those players who cant teleport across the continent:

  • Send the following to the ADMST and ADMAST at the e-ddresses provided in this sheet
  • Complete copy of character sheet and item cards
  • Complete XP log
  • Name and Cam #
  • Players DST or RST if the player is part of a solitary chapter proxy approval and email
  • Minimum of 48 hours before the event is to take place
  • Copies of appropriate approval forms for mid-approval and higher details of the character
  • Where the character is from
  • Why the character is coming
  • What goals the character hopes to accomplish and how they plan to do so
  • Some examples of the characters reactions to combat and non-combat situations
  • A physical description of the character
  • How the character is getting here both transportation and how the place is known

    Travel risks:
To arrive in the city of Omaha, there is little in the way of dangers from the Mundane world as of yet...no large signs proclaiming, "Here there be Ogres!" or other such dangers. The general meeting place of the Mages of Omaha tends to be a certain coffeehouse in the western side of the city called "Primium Java" and anyone wishing to visit and having the right connections will be able to find out that its a general hangout of oddballs and weirdos and geeks with open minds. Any visiting Mages will be met with an adequate level of caution.

    Challenges:
As per current Cam supplement. Challenges against other players can continue without Narrator supervision as long as BOTH players agree to a consensual challenge, if not, then a Narrator must be present to officiate. No challenge that involves the possible death of a character can be considered consensual. No challenge against non-sentients can be considered consensual. Any rules questions/discussions will only be conducted in the designated Out Of Character areas.

    Storyteller Information

    Venue Storyteller
    Name: Trysha E'Layne Kaneko

    Passed Thespis (y/n): Pending

    Style:
Step in and take a long look around now, take a step back and realize that youve just entered the Bazaar of Wonders. The Council may have a presence here in Omaha, but it is FAR from being dominant. Be careful what youre doing and what you even think. Fledgling empires need champions to help it flourish notice I didnt say, "heroes" there...thats right, Champions and not Heroes. Heroes die for causes that no one remembers after theyre gone. Champions, however, can be light or dark and they carve a place for themselves in history and in such empires like weve begun here. Most plots in Omaha will consist of getting to the short supply of resources before the Union does, however, there will not be any hard-and-fast direction to the game. Mage is a very maverick, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type of game. Expect there to be a large amount of improvisation in this venue.

    Antagonists:
Venue Antagonists are defiend as the typical Technocracy cabal and the typical lone Maurauder.

    Venue rules:
XP awarding is unaltered from Laws of Ascension, p121, except that the base is 2xp (Base 2xp per game, with additional xp for exceptional roleplaying, etc.)

No variation from suggested influence setup in Prime.

All optional rules from LoA used, however: Consensus Coincidence, Paradox Flaws, and Paradox Realms optional rules will be used on a case-by-case basis determined by the narrator on the scene.

    Visiting character/plot policy:
For those of you that will be coming to visit us in person and play your character, please remember to bring the following materials with you for... Character Checkin at an Omaha Mage Game!

  • Complete copy of character sheet and item cards
  • Complete XP log
  • Name and Cam #
  • Copies of appropriate approval forms for mid-approval and higher details of the character
  • If the character is an Orphan, a complete writeup of their paradigm shift
  • How the character is getting here both transportation and how the place is known
  • Influence data following the normal Camarilla rules on using Influence out of domain
  • We would prefer 48 hours notice that you are coming to the game if possible at all
