Venue Style Sheet

Player Information

Venue Name:
NewsGen, Dark Heartland/Kansas city (MO-D02)

(All of Kansas City’s games are run at a Domain level, and supported by each chapter.)

Genre:
Mortals

Contact:
Michael Curnutt [email protected]
James Holman [email protected]
Tim Hickman, DST [email protected]

Place/Time:
This venue will be primarily run via email, list mail and IRC Chat. There will be occasional games that will occur on weeknights, and to begin the venue we will host organizational meetings and character generation sessions, also on weeknights. Site fees of up to $3.00 may be asked, please use the contact info for the current policies from the coordintors. Also private scenes will be available when needed to solve scenes that need such quick response. ST will post updates to the email list every Sunday by 6pm, other response as needed.

IC Event Locations and Times:
NewsGen Incorporated has recently acquired several media companies in the Kansas City area. They have totally renovated and updated technologies, facilities and staff. Players create characters based around one of these subsidiaries, either as a reporter, cameraman, secretary or any other job that would be found in such a setting. The players may decide to focus on a TV station, a tabloid, a magazine or any other print or broadcast media type, or they can spread out into various types, and run the gambit. Assignments and stories to be researched will be assigned by appropriate ‘managers’ and be given a due date. They will be submitted to an ST only list, and depending on the quality of the work, xp will be awarded. Every Wednesday will be ‘Press Day’ and the stories that have not been edited or buried due to influence or other reasons will be posted to the main lists of every venue. This is to give a feel that everyone is playing in the same world, and make sure that actions are not “ignored” when uncomfortable or inconvenient. List play and IRC play will be considered each month and xp awarded for participation, and good RP. The max xp that can be earned in these ways is according to 5.1 monthly limits.

OOC Directions:
Varies. See contact info. Yahoo groups and IRC rooms will be made available over the Camarilla email lists as soon as they are set up. (And an addendum to this VSS should contain them, or at least a reference to a relevant web page.)

Theme/Mood:
Some of the most surprising heroes are the quite normal people that no one ever sees. Will you be one of them? As you delve deeper in to what is really going on out there, will you be able to accept that the world is much more than you knew, or will it break your mind to think of the magnitude that you have been deceived. Do you join the herds of monsters out there, or do you decide that humans need to fight back? After all, there are millions of you, and not where near as many of them are there?

Character restrictions:

As per the current Camarilla sanctioned play supplement for Mortals with the following restrictions.

  • No character, including the “awakened mortal” types common in other venues (e.g. ghouls, kinfolk, kinain, revenants, ect.) can not begin the game with more than 1 point of ‘true’ lore (i.e. Kindred, Garou, Sabbat)
  • Learning the ‘true’ lores requires more time than normal; 1 month for every level
  • Learning lores after level 2 precludes the character from interacting in the game while learning. Such intense learning in so short a time takes complete immersion in that society. Also learning these levels will be subject to VLST approval.
  • Metamorphosis immediately removes characters from the game. With High approval, the character may move to a new venue, but may not stay in this venue.
  • Ghouls may be the Thralls of PC’s in the Vampire Venues, however, they may not attend or gain xp for those games without prior appropriate approval per Prime. The same goes for kinfolk of PC werewolves, and kinain of PC fae. An ST must monitor cross-venue interaction at all times. There will also be NPC kindred in this venue to use as Domitors.

    Proxy rules:
As per current Camarilla rules supplement, but we reserve the right to limit lore levels, or refuse characters not created under these rules.

    Travel risks:
Since most of the action takes place on lists that are located in the NewsGen building in KC, travel is usually not a factor. However, while traveling to areas in scene, things could happen.

Travel by uninvolved mortals visiting NewsGen is usually uneventful.

    Challenges:
Tests that need to be thrown will be performed this way:

  • Email: The players will email the ST’s a list of challenges for the scene. The ST’s will compare lists and return results within 36 hours.
  • IRC: Both players will privately message an ST with tests. The ST will determine the winner and pass along info.
  • In person scenes: resolved as normal.

    Player Notes:
As the venues are approved and administered by the Domain Story Teller, any player that is a member of this Domain will use the Domain sanctioned archives and printed character sheets for any events run at the Domain level. If there is a dispute to any information in the database or on the sheet the Archivist must be informed to allow the Archivist the chance to research or explain the discrepancy. Players at anytime may appeal to the DST, the VST, or the CST of their chapter, if the discrepancy can not be resolved.

Any player that is a member of this Domain that enters a challenge without an approved Domain character sheet will relent to any challenges.

5 : Darkness (probability of player character death or corruption)
