North Central RST Policy

Regional List Infiltration

(Policy 18-Jan-2000 (This policy is modified from a copy of a simliar ANST-Cam-Anarch policy.)

1. Sect/Faction based lists are near impervious to infiltration, the secrets of the Faction are closely guarded by the physical means of used by that group using the combined resources and cunning of hundreds of loyal supporters. Therefore blanket infiltration of a list is impossible unless approved by CST, RA, and RST. The infiltrator must demonstrate extreme resources, cunning, and ingenuity in planning and execution of the infiltration. Most applications will be turned down. During this process of obtaining approvals for infiltration the character will not be subscribed to the list in question. This policy supersedes all approvals of infiltration previous to the date of its initial distribution; anything previously approved prior to 1/18/2000 is invalidated.

2. Current infiltrators on the list have until the end of February 2000 to identify themselves to List Moderators and RST; case by case examinations will be made on whether they stay on the list. Most infiltrators approved under the previous policy will be re-approved. If it is found later that a player lied and did not reveal an infiltration after this grace period, the character of that player will be god struck. Infiltrators approved under the previous list policy should check with the Regional Advisor for the Venue that their character is infiltrating to make sure that the RST has been notified of the infiltration before the end of the grace period.

3. All application requirements for subscription to a list will only be at most CST confirmation that a character plays the appropriate type of character (by Clan, Sect, etc.) and is an active member of the Faction. Additional requests for information useful to managing the Fiction (lineages, lores etc.) can be made at this point and cooperating with these requests adds greatly to the resources and flavor of the Faction being played and are encouraged.

4. Any restrictions in play artificially preventing the betrayal of the list (computers, which prevent email being forwarded, secret spies watching on PC's etc.) are removed. PC's can betray their list if they wish. In this case it is understood that this may mean the character may be destroyed if caught and players should fully understand the ramifications of such actions. Writing a short essay to their CST's about why their characters would commit obviously suicidal actions betraying their very Faction is recommended. CST's are encouraged to challenge players to ensure their characters have valid motivation for what is considered by some an ultimate act of betrayal.

5. Applications will be subbed to a list with a goal date of no more than 14 days from first email to subscription. Any applications outstanding over 14 days should be reported from the List Moderator to the ASA Web Presence & Lists and be worked to resolution aggressively.

6. The best method to "infiltrate" lists is to subvert, convert, bribe, blackmail, or strong-arm a PC with IC methods and means. That PC who is on the list must provide as they can information from the lists. Whether this is forwarded messages, paraphrases reports etc. as is most appropriate. Just because another PC has been converted does not mean an infiltrator will get "carte-blanche" access to the list and be subbed through majordomo. Players found out to have lied on this application will have their characters god struck. CST's who are found to have lied on the application will be dealt with at the CC/DC/RC/BoD level, as appropriate. The RST does not condone OOC lying in any aspect of the game and will vigorously work with all appropriate coordinators to come to a prompt and severe resolution.

This policy is put in place under the authority of the RST and applies only to lists or their respective digests that fall under that direction.
