You forgot to mention the One True Client in your email, Brian. ircII * busybody_ooc shrugs. "I don't do much with IRC, sorry. I grew up with fidonet and that ilk." (of course, most of what you're talking about doesn't show up in ircII -- it doesn't support colors, for instance.) I'm joking, actually -- I hate ircII but I'm using my Unix shell at the moment, so it's all I have. Question: When do we find out a> what the OOC schedule is for NCRE and b> what the IC place/time/event is for all venues? Rick and I (Rick meet Lloyd, Lloyd meet Rick) are both using mIRC, so I'm showing him a few shortcuts. The thing to remember is that most can be done with text commands, but the menu isn't too bad. Avoid the menu. Use the command line. The OOC schedule is pretty set. I can post the beta of the gaming schedule here if you're patient. That'd be great. coolness I just have to arrange travel stuff I'll be there First try, simple cut and paste (I think it's going to look messed up.) Friday 10am-4pm Dealer room & IC/OOC Registration noon-12:30 Opening Ceremonies 12:30-4pm Changeling Primary 6pm-10pm Sabbat Primary 10pm-late Cam-Anarch Secondary Saturday 10am-4pm Dealer room & IC/OOC registration noon-4pm Garou Primary & Changeling secondary 6pm-10pm Cam-anarch Primary 10pm-late Sabbat secondary Sunday noon Garou Secondary 4pm Closing Ceremonies Wow. That looked better than I thought. CA shuts down at 10? Cool, that allows plenty of time for the main thing I want to do in Denver: RHPS at the Esquire! We're working with the hotel and have contingiency plans on contingiency plans for stuff. The schedule revolves around 10pm for that reason. Who's up for RHPS? (IC even if you like -- my Tremere is going IC most likely) KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS A FINAL BETA SCHEDULE. THE COORDINATORS MAY CHANGE IT. RHPS? But they'll have to go thru me first The Rocky Horror Picture Show. If you don't go see it, I may belt you around the mouth.... or mouth you around the belt. (from an old radio ad) ohhh ok, never actually heard it abbrv. The IC location for Cam Anarch is the same as the OOC location. Typically that matches up with one of the venues and the other venues are elsewhere. I am likely not to make it myself for RHPS. Love to, but not when I'm doing doing stuff, y'know. I understand. I'm a huge RHPS fan, though... It changed my life. *** bbstmoc has joined #nc-rst 'Allo! Bryan, right? *** Tyler_OOC has joined #nc-rst yup Hi, Tyler! how do? One question that I keep getting conflicting answers on and I can't seem to find it in 5.1: New Thaum Rituals -- RST or NST approval? The idea here is to provide a venue for informal questions and the like... Such as Rev's... New mechanics requires the NST to approve and THEN set an approval level which could be any level. Hey Brian Rev needs to get off the computer soon -- he's at work and shouldn't tie up the line. kill the tremere...er ummmm I mean never mind The place for the new mechanics rules are in Prime, chapter 3 Cute... So, what do you put the odds at for getting any new rituals approved by Wade? From what I see on the Tremere list, he must've given out a bunch in other regions. which brings up the point of what needs approval and by whom list Most of the odd rituals you've seen are from 5.0 approvals and by RST's. So far, none have been done under 5.1. After Mage 5.1, after Gaoru 5.1 and after MET V:ST Guide, then conversions from tabletop. Then... And should I use the database for my Thaum ritual app? Rick - could you expand on the "by whom list"? Yes - use the approvals database/website for that. so by the year 3001 they should have this all figured out? I gots go go, all... Converted from TT books that is. Someone is already on that. Ree - who is the ANST Admin - is compiling such a list. She's been going to all of the region's site and looking. This isn't a strict ST question but who is the ARC solitary chapters? Last time I checked that position was vacant, so it defaults to the RC. some of the clan webpages list stuff like that also... like the Lasombra homepage lists Merits/Flaws/Combos What the ANST admin is going to do with the list (i.e. publish it someplace) is another topic. Sometimes the focues is good." He is using the money left to him by Tarl Bristol to fund research into them. That's it so far HAve I missed anything interesting? Katana's Leaving the storyline for a moment (considers auctions and the like...) a lot of weapons can be defaulted back to something in prime. Qatar as a knife, scimatar as a fencing rapier or broadsword for example. Flavor, but normal approval weapons. * busybody_ooc decides to adverise website, http://go.to/ncrst is much easier to remember than http://dppw.tamu.edu/camarilla/chapters/NC/RST/ Katanas should mostly be defaulting to broadswords. I'd be happy to suggest a piece of art which happens to be katana. Made by weaponmaster so-and-so in the early part of 18th century near such-and-such town. Neat flavor, but standard mechanics as in Prime. Probably worth a mint as well - using it would probably lessen it's value and don't give it to a Brujah... I think it is good, especialy for police influence *** repoman has joined #NC-RST *** repoman is now known as Reverend_ 'Allo, Lloyd! I agree with Rick. Some local things can't be that easy to screw with. I've noticed some ST's basing their character in nearby chapters (hi, Dave!). Nice way to do it - does that tie in with the influence question? i would think that it helps wwith plot in the other cities just wanted to know if it was becoming common and easy to deal with I'd say that it's obvious that the ST local to the influenes needs to be the one dealing with them. The home ST should know about them for tracking purposes. Such influences should represent an investment of time and effort in the remote city. *** Reverend_ Quit (Client closed connection) I remember a time when we had it like this before....and I had a character with Influence in 3 cities. Thats alot of xp and tracking. could someone take their 5 background traits and spend 3 on, say, Police INF. in Wichita and 2 in KC... at character creation Yeah - under 4.1 the interpeation was a bit looser and some regions allowed it (and some didn't.) It's possible to split up the starting character's influence that way, but you are probably looking at some delays while you justify to the remote ST's why your charater should have the influence. * busybody_ooc notes "No matter where the influences are, still limited by total attribute traits." nods * Sander_LK makes note to buy more influence retainers *** Rev_OOC has joined #NC-RST *** Vonscheihagen is now known as shawnesse_ooc * busybody_ooc waves to Lloyd Oops. You know Garou pretty good yes travis *** Rev_OOC has joined #NC-RST Hey, Lloyd! Could you repeat your question? * busybody_ooc notes that they've been tearing through pure breed and IC explanation of it, sort of... Yeah -- what is the source for pre-reset history? I've been told a> all the TT books, b> LOTNR *only*, c> LOTNR and LOTNGTTC only, and d> there is no IC history -- different accounts of the past are held by different PCs, and none is "truer" than another. sure * Sander_LK was on the phone and stuff for bit Answer isn't simple and that's a project that I may want to compile a bit. Basically, we track with WW's material up to about 1900 with a few interesting exceptions. Like? The Tremere Inner council is different from the TT. and Ravnos hasn't been killed by the Cathayans and Technocracy yet. (especially, since I didn't see this before today, 'coz my PCs had been playing off of "everything was just like in the books until 1997") Yeah, but the Ravnos thing is post-reset, so it wouldn't come into our continuity. The thing to keep in mind is that there is no absolute information. In other words, treat pretty much everything in any book like what you read in a random clanbook. In other words, yeah, that's what is said, but maybe there is a slant. (and I didn't know that the Tremere council was different -- my guy doesn't have the Lore to have even the basics of a clue) true enough, but there are changes touche' Of course there's a slant, but if I'm to play a PC older than reset, I need some objective idea of what "really happened" in his lifetime. nods, misinformation as to "truth" of chronicle history has always been a part of our game The other matter is that most of the info in the modern "City by Night" books is out as it's post 1900. Even some of the older info in those books is out. The Chicago ST's know about the history of Chicago as well as the RST. Because he should remember -- there's a plotline playing out right now on the list where PCs are openly contradicting each other regarding events and practices that they should all remember. Which event? It's some kind of prestation argument -- I think that one of the players is named "King." OK, let's make this easy. Real history source or not: LOTNGTTC? As flavor and theme, LotN:CG is in - but muddied by the Protocols. One current solution is to decentralize the info to the geographic area. If I wanted to deal with ancient WoD history in India, there is an ST I can talk to. * busybody_ooc notes that ST is currently in the VPST office. So, to use my example, PCs should notice that Conclave post-reset is very different from Conclave pre-reset, right? or not? They really shouldn't notice much of a diffence. The Conclave at ICC 1999 may have been considered an aberation. Anyone see the conclaves at 98,99 and 2000 to offer another POV than mine? What part was an aberation Brian? Umm, '99 wasn't a Conclave, it was a press conference. From what I've been told, no Conclave in play has done any business what soever as a deliberative body. I think what most people think is the conclave in 1999 was actually the Oath Chapel. The conclave there was the Princes meeting. ICC 97 turned the Setites down as an 8th clan in the Camarilla. that was 96 in houston At least I seem to remember that (as compares and constrats with the ICC 96 conclave.) I noted it because we seemed to repeat ourselves pre and post reset. Conclave by definition is open to all Camarilla Kindred, according to LOTNCG. Exactly why I commented as an aberration... I was at the 98 and 99 conclave Prestation worked similarly but the effects were the same. boons were still handled by harpies and was determined by status and age *** shawnesse_ooc has left #nc-rst I remember the Conclave of 97....don't remember one at the 98 But, I was told that the Conclave as a body never did anything, in '97, '98, '99, or '00... Is this not the case? 98 was Veroja correct. yeah Or even better, how's this for an obscure history source -- the original VtM -- is it good for history/setting or not? 98 was veroja Business was offered in 2000, but declined. Business was on the table in 1997. Declined? You mean the Justicars tried to get the Conclave to debate and vote, and it wouldn't? The earlier editions get degraded as far as history and setting. Some stuff in there is still extremely good. But should always counter check... (sounds like a Chapter meeting) 98 conclave had a the veroja to deal with and the justicars were preoccupied with that.. Remember that Styles and (insert Toreador justicar) were dealing with that The Justicars inquired for business from all all of the clans in 2000. None of the clans had any business to bring up. yeah, magistratum was pissed no one said anythign I rembember the French Prince sought help against the Ventrue Justicar at 97.... :) While his interpretor insulted eveyone. We're doing an annual conclave. 2000 had an actual sealed conclave, much to the Nosferatu clanhead's dismay Nor did any individuals? What do you mean, sealed? There was a Justicar called hunt based on business brought up by an individual. Some are calling that "red-listed". Perhaps some are confused I can't remember if it was 97 or 98 in which danton was redlisted Of course, that would be telling if they are actually confused. I wish I'd been there -- I keep meaning to make a character who'll try to get the Conclave to censure the Oath. but that was part of the conclave Burbank this year Sealed as no one in, and no one out while business is being conducted. Strangly enough, the emisarries would able to leave, but they were a special case. (One of my minions wasn't able to enter under psychic projection - poor sot.) Cool. I guess I mis-spoke, then, Brian. It's just that I'd had it on pretty good authority that '99 was exactly how they were all supposed to go. If they're being run per source, I've got nothing to complain about. French Princes asked for assisantance in 1997. Setites wanted to join in 1997 but were turned down (but I think that was the J's preempting the qeustion.) *** Sander_LK Quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer) (the explosion of Noddism, OTOH, strikes me as weird, but I haven't had anybody try to tell me that Noddism was always a big proselytizing cult) *** ChipmuckCannuckooc Quit (Quit: "Everything you say to me takes me one step closer to the edge and I'm about to break...shut up when i'm talking to you..." It may not have actually been a conclave. The main business that took place was done at the Princes meeting that year. Was that the conclave? Good question. *** TravisP is now known as Travis_ooc Didn't miss much - basically a question on Noddism that I'm going to get some explanation on... Explosium of Noddism?!? don't forget the secret meetings that were going on then to But, I thought that it was official that a Conclave had been announced, and that the site named was where we ended up. Ah Nod. I wanna hear this I don't know - you've got me curious enough to ask. Everybody and their small dog is a Noddist nowadays -- Source kindof indicates that it was an underground cult in the past. It was announced but whether anything was "officially" done or not is different * busybody_ooc remmebers many PC's calling the archon called meeting at NCRE1 a conclave I know how many Noddists are in NC region in the cam_anarch venue. Or are you talking about characters who believe in parts of the Book of Nod? IIRC, at '99 several PCs were killed outright on the Conclave floor by the Justicars for daring to express an opinion. Hardly source-compliant, unless that wasn't really a Conclave. Thats screwed up Lloyd... Most Noddist are in the Sabbat. unless they are part of a Gehenna cult. define Nodists Brian, official clarification of what a Nodist is Exactly. I am not kidding, Tyler. Easily 25% of local PCs are open noddists, and the rest don't mind. The Cam supposedly is supposed to suppress Noddism and belief in Gehenna Suppress belief in Antedeleviuns and Gehenna, yes. Yeah, but in the past three years, that stopped. Why? Publically, that is. Privately, they are all agog with it. I gotta go -- y'all gonna be on later tonight, or is this the end? Start having the harpy strip status for foolishness. Those who are public could start being targetted.... Basicaly, it's a local theme thing. Harpy does that, Harpy dies. not necessarily Harpy needs to be strong enough or smart enough to do it. That's the pattern, and it ain't just our Chapter. Drew indicated that that is common in Denver and Springs. depends on the harpy and what they can get away with Harpy hasn't died in some time in Springs I think less in Denver, but more in Springs and Pueblo (based on patterns) Nobody wants to play Status as anything other than virtual trading cards, IMHO. Yep. We are working on that It's getting a lot better But now I'm getting bitter -- I gotta go because I should have left 10 minutes ago. take care rev Your ST's need to help educate the players and perhaps support the harpy a bit. ::shrug:: See ya'! I don't, I make sure the "laws of Cain" are wrong as well as the misconceptions about the antideluvians, etc. I try at least for my pc to make sure there is always a question as to what is the truth about the book of nod harder than hell to do btw The Occult influence has a lot of wonky stuff in them. Anyone want to know where a Methusalah sleep? ::eeeewww::: hehe or getting access to a magic item my Sabbat pack does... ST answer: Get three warnings. Run wonderful end scene for pack. * busybody_ooc shrugs. I had a ventrue player that knew the Ventrue antis name...said it was in his lineage....should a Neonate posess that info just cause they know their lineage? depends does it make a good story or is it cheese here's a question about occult influence * busybody_ooc sighs. They know the name, but do they truly believe that's the one single ancestor of all ventrue anti? Ventrue... hell yeah... although its probably a wrong name that the anti dominated everyone into believing LOL *I* certainly don't think that there was one single ancestor. Probably a handful of young neonates who didn't die in the anarch revolt. at certain levels you can access a basic intermeidate or advanced ritual, if the pc isn't one who has blood magic (thaum necromancy, sorcery, Koldunic etc) what type of ritual can they get, and how can they use it? advanced ritual.... ghoul butt scratching? funny ewww * busybody_ooc takes notes on "Butt Scratching Ritual". your sick brian why would someone without the ability to do a ritual be researching one? Rituals are not just for blood magic tho I would give them some ritual out of an off the shelf book in bookstore. Literally. cool any in game mechanics for it Some of those may be really neat. No game mechanics. could the ritual actually do something "Put down a circle of salt and inscribe the follwoing tetragammons..." or is that an st call at the time "Intone these anmes and..." I get the idea Maybe a small very brief affect. Maybe get a willpower or something. advanced ritual... Lord of Flies... step one... smear with bat dung... that's cool the flies isn't blech * busybody_ooc gets handed chocalate. Mmmmm. * Travis_ooc makes note. brian likes chocolate * Travis_ooc makes plans to send brian lots of toblerone * busybody_ooc innocently does some name dropping... Godiva. Speaking of the subject of rituals.... * Travis_ooc makes note Godiva. hehe yes? The whole pentagram thing versus Psychic Projection - is not in current rules. nods Perhaps if the moon was full and the stars aligned just right on the Ides of January, such a pentagram could require a willpower to cross... in other words it won't prevent Pshychic proj? * bbstmoc looks lost Won't prevent it. gotcha Lost? I could make it a bit more difficult,, if let's say someone spent enough occult actions to get a certain ritual tho Speaking of stuff not in current rules - the whole bidding a derangement versus telepathy. that's in LOTN tho isn't it? (thinks he read it there) In LotN, but not in LotN:Rev (unless I'm way off. Gotta copy handy?) (leme find mine) Nope it is gone. Now, if two players can agree on an effect related to a derangement, I'm cool with that. got mine, but are you talking under derangements or telepathy Under telepathy. In the old LotN/MET 2nd ed, you could bid your derangements versus a telepathy test. am looking nothing specifically saying that although depending on the derangement, trying to drag up memories or something like that could get very interesting Exactly... nope I was wrong doesn't say anything about derangement vs telepathy * Travis_ooc wonders if it is in 5.1 something like Fugue might be misconstrued as a "clumsy attempt at Dominate" Surface thoughts and an active derangement....woohoo. food for thought there For example, if regression was active, it would be difficult. Forcing a fact out under MPD would likely trigger a change if the fact couldn't be reconiled under the current personality. makes sense * busybody_ooc is double-checking 5.1 - nothing there on bidding derangements as a defence vs telepathy. Is there anything preventing an st from making a rules call that one can get a derangement from using telepathy on someone who has one? possibly imposing multiple memories of the same event... giving the telepath a MPD when trying to recall that event? Don't make rules calls. If you are narrating a scene and someone is really deep in anothers head, and is really trying to understand someone, I can see making a situational call. But it would heavily depend on making the call and I'd give at least an IC warning of "this is starting to feel weird." or if crimson rage was active, having the telepath make a frenzy check Or immortal teror. virtue test. that's what I meant, situational call (not set in stone rules call) cool also... 4 personalities with different versions... which one is accurate? nice A telepath who is skilled might be able to figure it out, but would have to compare the versions. Usually, the personalities are fragments, so they usually share memories, except for the bad ones. when the telepath relays one story to another person his aura perceives as lying since he knows there are other versions to the story Neat idea. The more we can reduce absolute truth, the better for the game and mystery as a whole. I like it grin btw who is bbst? * Travis_ooc would like a name to go with nick * busybody_ooc whispers do a "whois" btw, brian did you hear from Myke about a little flaw for Candi's Tori w/ Protean? * Travis_ooc waves to Brian B * busybody_ooc thinks "I believe so." * bbstmoc tips hat... howdy wheres moc? The "Tori" part threw me. wichita * Travis_ooc makes note to let brian know about sander getting protean cool you coming to NCRE6 BB? moc= Masque of Corruption nope... got work... only been there for 8 mon. so don't have any vacation coming yet cool, (shadowed peaks dst here)(knights of rage chapter) darn Gotta go - wife is reminding me that I need to take her to work in the morning. The room is yours, just clean up after yourselves clean? heh... that's prestige hehe Just kidding about the cleaning . 5 for me regional I'll take 5 as well Night Brian. yeah.. an st meating hehe night * busybody_ooc slaps Travis_ooc around a bit with a large trout night Brian grin Night BB and Travis. I think this chat went well. I can usually be found in this room (but perhaps not responsive immediately) whenever I'm logged on. * busybody_ooc waves. *** Disconnected Session Close: Tue Jan 30 23:00:57 2001
