Not Your Mommas Ren Faire
Deirdre Clyde (Baroness Rich), Deirdre Sargent (Queen Elizabeth), Christine Rodriguez (Countess of Derby), Lisa Carter (Baroness Sheffield)

This is my Renaissance Faire Home Page with an emphasis on my portrayal of Queen Elizabeth. I started working at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire in 1989, the first year the Southern Faire was in Devore, CA. I hawked darts part time for Mary Skears at Good Shepard Games. In 1990 our acting troupe was accepted to perform "The Swineherd". (I think we got in because we had a burlap pig).

After that we re-organized as "The Earl of Leicesters Players" with myself as the director. We performed for the next four seasons doing "The Comedy of Errors" (1991, 1994) and "A Midsummer Nights Dream" (1992, 1993). Soon after this REC took over management of the Faire. In 1999 I started to understudy as the REC Queen but didn't start portraying the role until 2001. After that I would have 1 day during the 3 day weekend of Northern and Southern Faires for the role. In 2003, REC closed the Northern site due to budgetary concerns. The next day, merchants and participants came together to keep the Northern Faire going and Play Faire Productions grew out of this. They opened in 2004 with myself playing Queen Elizabeth full time. Here are some bits of stuff you might find interesting.

Thanks! Deirdre
