Notes on "Six Miles on I-95"

This is my Ode to Joyce; an experiment in stream of consciousness writing. (Is a bad imitation still flattery?) I can only be amazed the man could keep this style up for the better part of 700 plus pages in "Ulysses."

I've kept the character's interaction with the physical world to the bare minimum for two reasons. First, it's a difficult style to write in, and I was afraid with too much to incorporate (mental and physical) I'd get lost in my own prose. Second, I simply wanted this to be a 'man left alone with his own thoughts' story; to emphasize the mosaic of thoughts and images the mind can contemplate within a short span of time.
