| Welcome to 3rd grade! |
| We are discussing the following concepts: Math- We are learn fractions for half, fourths, thirds, sixths, and eighths. We will compare and order them and find equivalent fractions. Social Studies- We are learning about economics, the study money. We are learning about different types of resources, divison of labor and interdependence of all people to meet our needs. We are basing this unit around a blanket project for Project Linus. The students will actually be making blankets. For Reading- We will continue reader's workshop, word study and self selected reading each day. For Writing- We have started a poetry unit. We are reading poems others have written and learning about the characteristics of poems. We will also write some poems of our own. | What's new in our class? |
| We will be out of school Jan 19-21 in honor of Martin Luther King holiday and teacher workdays. Remember to work on Study Island. Those how have half complete will be rewarded on Friday, the 23rd. On Monday, January 26th the PTSA will have a Wendy's Night at the Wendy's in Archdale from 5-8pm. Come out and support the PTSA. Save yourself time and not cook dinner. |
