Current Events Poject
Fall 2003

Now that you have gathered current events for the entire semcster you should feel very educated on your chosen topic. It is now time to put your research of current events into a presentation.  Your project will not only make your current events an educational tool for others to look at, but will also help you pull together the things you have learned during the course of the semester.

The project you create should be in the following format:
     1. Typed in 12 point Times New Roman font
     2. Black ink
     3. Proper organization

The project should include the following components (see rubric):

   1.
Title Page with your name, topic, class, and date
   2.
12 articles with typed summaries in proper format (see attached example)

A. You can discard the written current event sheets after you have used  them for the information.

B. You should have only one summary per page

C. Your articles and summaries should be arranged in chronological order
   3.
Vocabulary list consisting of 20 words and definitions in alphabetical order.
   4.
Quotes page with 5 quotes that you chose from the articles that best display the types of events you studied during the semester
   5.
A country/region/ topic overview that answers the atttached questions. Also included with this component should be a visual or map

You can cut and paste the questions from the atttached page into a Word document so you don't have to retype the questions.
Use the internet sites provided or encyclopedias for information. If you studied several countries in a region you can pick one of them to study. If you picked a different type of topic you should look at information and develop appropriate questions and answers for the topic (like Frequently asked questions).

   6.
A one page double-spaced reflection paper that addresses the following questions: What type of things did you learn (be specific)? What is your overall reaction to the events you learned about (be specific)? What is your evaluation of the current events project? Did it make you more aware of events taking place in the world? Why or why not? Did the project cause you to spend more time looking at the newspaper or online news sources about topics other than your own? What suggestions do you have on how the make the project a better learning tool for students in World History?
