Mrs. Monika Smith's
Fourth Grade Class!!!
Mrs. Smith earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Intermediate Education and her Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University. She graduated with honors. She is a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT). This represents the highest professional credential in the field of teaching. Mrs. Smith has also earned Model Classroom certification each year since 1999 for her work with the Reading Renaissance program. She was also voted Teacher of the Year for Chocowinity Primary School for the 1996-1997 school year. She has taught third, fourth, and fifth grades at CPS.
2008-2009 will mark Mrs. Smith's 20th year in teaching!
She enjoys teaching very much and hopes the children enjoy the time they spend in her classroom. Mrs. Smith lives with her husband in Winterville. She grew up in the Black Jack area of Pitt County and attended Chicod Elementary School and DH Conley High School, before attending East Carolina University on an Alumni Honors Scholarship.
She enjoys reading, going on vacations, and spending time with her family. She also loves the Washington Redskins and ECU Pirates.
