Parent Information
I am happy to be working with you and your child this year. My goal is to help your child achieve to the best of his/her ability. Through open communication of teacher, student, and parents, we will have a successful year!

I will send home weekly papers every Monday and progress reports about every other week.  Folders and progress reports must be signed and returned the following day. I use this as a weekly communication tool and ask that you do the same. Please give me comments and feedback so we can work together to make sure your child succeeds.
Your child will also have a behavior slip with three stars in his/her folder each week. If your child misbehaves during the week, he/she will lose a star and it will be marked out. (See the behavior expectations part of this letter for consequences.) This is a weekly update of your childs behavior. If your child does not have any stars marked out, he/she has shown exemplary behavior!

Tests, homework, and classwork are all weighed equally. I occasionally take grades for homework so it is essential that your child do this work. I do not accept late work or allow students to re-do low grades unless there is an emergency.

Homework assignments will be posted on the homework board each day. Your child will have ample time to copy the homework and gather the materials he/she needs to complete his/her homework. I have given each child a homework folder. Their homework should stay in this folder as it travels to and from school. A chart has also been placed inside your childs homework folder. As they turn in all of their homework each day, he/she will be given a sticker/stamp. When the chart is full, your child will receive a homework pass for the following night. You can also use this chart to ensure that your child has turned in their homework each day.

I believe that in order for your child to succeed in our classroom there should be plenty of student/parent/teacher communication.  I recommend that we meet at various times during the school year to formally discuss your childs progress. I am available before, during, and after school for conferences-if you schedule an appointment before you come.  I must make arrangements ahead of time and may not be able to see you if you pop-in. I ask that you do not come to the classroom with your child at 8:00am to discuss any concerns. I will meet with you at any other time, but our daily routine begins promptly at 8:00, and I need to be with my students at that time.

Again, I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me at school or via email.
