A.
This aftifact contains a webquest that
was created by myself and my other group members in my Reading in the Content
Areas class. This webquest was created as an interdisciplinary attempt
to better understanding the events of September 11th, 2002.
B. Context
The webquest was created over a period
of several weeks during class. We created the webquest to fulfill
the requirements of a class assignment. We created the webquest by
using a template from the webquest website. After we copied the template
onto our own disk we used netscape composer to create and edit the webquest.
As a group we divided ourselves into our own disciplines and created our
tasks based on our own subject area. The subject areas that we included
are History, Business, and Math.
C. Impact
As a future classroom teacher in this
growing technological age, it will be most helpful to me to have completed
this webquest. By completing it, I have become familiar with how
to make a webquest and what this process entails. By doing so, I
am now prepared to create webquests in my own classroom for multiple uses.
I feel that webquests will be useful in my classroom because my students
will be working with computers on a daily basis.
D. Alignment
By completing this artifact I have met
the following competencies:
II. PLANNING AND
DESIGNING LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND EXPERIENCES.
Teachers plan and design effective learning
environments and experiences supported by technology.
A. design developmentally appropriate
learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies
to support the diverse needs of learners.
C. identify and locate technology resources
and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability.
D. plan for the management of technology
resources within the context of learning activities.
E. plan strategies to manage student learning
in a technology-enhanced environment.
technologies.
III. TEACHING,
LEARNING, AND THE CURRICULUM.
Teachers implement curriculum plans, that
include methods and strategies for applying technology to
maximize student learning.
A. facilitate technology-enhanced experiences
that address content standards and student technology
standards.
B. use technology to support learner-centered
strategies that address the diverse needs of students.
C. apply technology to develop students'
higher order skills and creativity.
D. manage student learning activities
in a technology-enhanced environment.
I have met all of these competencies by
creating a webquest for high school students. This webquest is a
technological tool that I will use in my classroom that will require students
to use their technology skills at higher levels. This webquest will
require that the students use higher order thinking skills along with creativity.
