Writing Portfolios: Students will create a formal presentation of their best writing. It will include the following: Title Page, Table of Contents, and an Introductory Page entitled Portrait of Myself as a Writer. Students will choose 4 of their best written pieces with a written reflection on each one. Also include a chart that records your grammatical weaknesses. Show your progress in mastering each one. The Portfolio is due two weeks before the end of the year. |

Students will choose from the from the following groups of roots, prefixes, and suffixes and create families. Your goal is to master 100 new words. Group I: cap, cip, capt, cept, (ceive, ceipt) (take) Group 2: spec, spic, spect (look at; examine) Group 3: val, vail (strong, well, farewell) Group 4: pend, pens, pond (hang, weigh, pay) Group 5: port (entrance, harbor, carry) Group 6: ten, tin, tent, tain (hold) |
