Mrs. Burton’s Biology Class Hello! In Biology, we will
be learning about living things, how they function, and their environment. Biology is an EOC course, which means that
every student will be required to take an End Of Course test that will serve as
a final exam. This is a fast paced
course, so students must keep up to date.
Below are guidelines for this course. Tips for Success: 1. Read the textbook! 2. Review the notes for each day when you get
home from school. This will help you
remember them. 3. Ask questions in class. If you don’t understand something, stop
me. Don’t leave the class unsure about
things. 4. Stop by after school for help when you need
it. Make-Up Work: Make-up work is the
student’s responsibility! You must keep
up with your assignments. Check the
calendar in the classroom to see what you missed. Make-up work is to be
completed within one week of the absence.
In extreme circumstances, exceptions may be made. Thursdays are the after school make-up day
for the Science department. Missed
tests and quizzes may be made up then. Bathroom Policy: Students may use the
restroom during class. I ask that you
wait until you are doing individual work so that you do not miss important
information. Students will not be
permitted to use the restroom for the first 15 minutes and the last 15 minutes
of each class. If you know you have to
go, use the restroom during class change.
If restroom breaks become excessive, you may loose your privilege. Extra Credit: No extra credit
assignments will be offered. Notebook: Each student is
required to keep a 3-ring binder for Biology only. You’ll get more information on this later. The sections are: Notes Assignments Vocabulary Rules: 1. Obey all school rules. 2. Follow all teacher instructions. 3. Be in your seat when the bell rings. 4. Bring materials to class. 5. No food, drink, gum, or candy. 6. Be respectful. Consequences: 1. Warning 2. After school detention (15 minutes) and
parent contact 3. Control Room Course Fee: $5.00 per student Please feel free to
