Here is a correction,Johnston co. Heritage book.
From the book Johnston County Heritage:

Elizabeth BRYAN married Samuel ELDRIDGE possibly of
Sampson County.   Samuel ELDRIDGE made his will 1 March
1778 and it was probated in May 1778. He named wife Elizabeth,
son-in-law David LEE (wife was possibly Anna),  son-in-law
Abner INGRAM, son Samuel, and daughter Mildred ELDRIDGE.

Sheila, your info is very interesting and I'm sure it relates to my Samuel
Eldridge someway but I don't quite know how at this time. Sorry I can't
help you with Troy and Susanna but will let you know if I find anything
on them. Another record you should see--the Wm. Spencer Eldridge Family
Bible, pg 55 of Fam Bible Records [in Johnston Co NC] Vol I&II by Liz
Ross. WS Eldridge b.29 Aug 1838 JoCo; m. Nancy Wood 4 Jan 1870 (wid/o
Harry Lee who d. CSA), Nancy b. 5 May 1842, d/o Whitfield Wood. Bible
lists 2 children by Harry and 6 (b. 1870-1882) by WS. Then it lists
Elizabeth Eldridge (21 Oct 1814 SampCo-Feb 1862) and Samuel Eldridge
(d. 17 Mar 1772) [Possibly his parents?] and Young Eldridge (1809 JoCo-17
Dec 1882). What do you make of this Samuel?

Dear Friend:   Please excuse if I have written you before.  At my age
I can't remember who I have corresponded with, especially if just a
casual inquiry.  Do you happen to know anything about a SAMUEL
ELDRIDGE of Johnston County, N. C.?

He died there about 1778.

His wife was ELIZABETH UNKNOWN, they had the following children:

Martha who married "Long David" Lee (<note:prob not correct)
Elizabeth who married Abner Ingram
Samuel who married Delany Lassity
Mildred who married Nathaniel Thornton
Anna who married "Short David" Lee.

As asked earlier, if this is a duplicate inquiry, feel free to discard it.

Gratefully

__________
There is something wrong with this genealogy link for Elizabeth.
There was a Samuel Eldridge that did marry Elizabeth Bryan as listed
in  "Marriages of  Johnston Co., North Carolina 1762-1868" But could
this Elizabeth Bryan not be the correct one? It appears from the IGI
that Elizabeth was born in 1766. Samuel's daughter Mildred Eldridge
was born in 1753. Elizabeth would be younger than her own daughter.
Mildred's husband Nathaniel Thornton was born 1746. Samuel's sister
Martha was born between 1693 and 1709 according to the Samuel
Eldridge 1709 will. The IGI gives a birth date for Samuel as 1738
If that is true then we have another problem. His father died in 1709.
