INTRODUCTION. Every educationist has his or her own expertise and experience in specific fields. Sharing these expertise and experience with others would enrich everyone. Opportunity for sharing is limited during working hours. Hence, efforts should be made to provide the opportunity for sharing knowledge and experiences. A national level Mathematics Conference is a means of providing the opportunity for sharing expertise and experience. Through intellectual collaboration, everyone would benefit and be able to face effectively the challenges in the teaching and learning of Mathematics. The aim of the National Teacher Education Mathematics Conference in collaboration with the Third National Graphing Calculator Conference is to provide the opportunity for sharing knowledge and experiences to enhance professional development among Mathematics educationist.

OBJECTIVE. To provide opportunity to Mathematics educationist to share experiences and expertise in the teaching and learning of mathematics. To provide opportunity for professional enhancement in accordance to the latest developments and requirements in the field of Mathematics and Mathematics education. To enhance professional relationships among Mathematics educationist in Malaysia.

AUDIENCE. The conference is aimed at primary and secondary school teachers, lecturers from teachers training institutes in Malaysia and university lecturers. Also any one related to teaching of mathematics are invited to participate in the conference.

CALL FOR PAPERS. Researchers who wish to present their papers should submit their abstract for consideration before March 15, 2007. The abstract should contain the title, name and address of author(s), including e-mail address and an abstract. Abstracts for both conferences may be submitted via regular mail or as an attached MS Word file on an e-mail message to [email protected] . The authors of the accepted abstracts will notified by March 30, 2007. The conference proceedings will be made available during the conference.

REGISTRATION. Participants will be attending both conferences simultaneously. The registration fee for participants from Malaysia is RM350 if registered and paid before April 15, 2006. For other participants, the fee is USD300 if registered and paid before April 15, 2006. For those who register after this date, the fee is respectively RM400 and USD350. MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION. Papers should be written in English or Bahasa Malaysia. The first page contains the title, name and address of author(s), including e-mail address and an abstract. All papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings after peer reviewed by the Editorial Panel. Papers should address the conference focus areas, reflecting upon trends, issues, concerns and consideration appropriate to science and mathematics teaching and learning at all levels. We welcome articles that inform instruction with graphing calculators at the secondary or tertiary level, and teachers are particularly encouraged to share ideas with colleagues. To expedite publication of the conference proceedings, manuscripts must adhere to the following format:
  • Please use MS Word
  • Font type: Times New Roman
  • Body text: 11 point, justified single-line spacing. Leave a line between paragraphs, as well as before and after a table or figure
  • Margin: set on an A4 paper size
  • Tables and figures must be properly captioned and numbered
Authors are advised to refer to the conference web site at http://math.usm.my/ncgc2007 or at http://www.geocities.com/ncgc2007 for specific guidelines and template in the preparation of their manuscripts. A soft copy of the submission template is also available from the Conference Secretariat. Papers may be submitted via regular mail or as an attached MS Word file on an e-mail message to [email protected]. The deadline for submission of full papers is May 15, 2007. The Editorial Panel will announce its decision before July 15, 2007.

NCGC Contest for Teachers. This contest is open to educators/teachers in the public secondary schools or matriculation centers. Fourteen (14) attractive scholarships sponsored by Statworks and Texas Instruments stand to be won. These include two scholarships each for the MAV Australia conference. Contestants are required to describe how the graphing calculator was incorporated in their classrooms. All entries must be submitted before 12:OO PM on May 15, 2007.
