                                    Lucca
A medieval city whose surrounding walls have been transformed into a three mile, tree-lined promenade.  On my last trip I visited the birthplace of Puccini, which is now open to the public as a museum.  It was a delight to tour this building and hear the strains of his wonderful music in the background.
I painted this picture while sitting on  the steps of Chiesa San Frediano,  as my husband and I enjoyed a lunch of bread, cheese and wine.
Lucca is not far from the Tuscan small town of Collodi. The author of the Italian classic Pinocchio was born there over 100 years ago, and used  the name of the town as his pen name, Carlo Collodi.

It is my favorite children's story and I have  accumulated  a collection of Pinocchio memorabila.  My husband and I planned to visit Collodi in 1999, but when we reached Pisa  from Florence, we were told there were no more trains that day as the railroad was on strike.

Pinocchio   My still life painting of some of my  Pinocchio collection can be found on apparel etc, at CAFEPRESS.

Greeting cards in the Italian language are also available.
