It was a typical dawn of January 14, 1999 for most of the people but form my parents it was not. It was the date of my birth as their second child and first daughter.
I came from a simple family, where both of my parents needs to work for them to support our family needs. My father, Fernando grew up in Paranaque City while my mother grew up in Negros Occidental. They've met here in Manila because of they're work. After a few years, they got married and after a while my mother gave birth to my elder brother, Griegor. Another two years went by until my mother gave birth to me. It was least expected because they really want another baby boy and they want to name it Nic, but because I'm a girl they named me Nicole. My mother said that she named me after the name of an actress in her favorite movie back when she was pregnant.
As I grew up from being a baby to the toddler stage and to childhood stafe, I've experience a lot of things in this world- either good or bad.
Back when I was a child, I never had a lot of bonding time with my parents because they usually go to wotk early in the morning and go home late. I grew up with the care and guidance of my grandmother, Lolita who lives with us since my eleder brother Griegor was a baby. I grew up with a lot of boys presence starting from my father, then to my brother, cousins and up to my playmates. When I was a child, I always play with my brother and with his friends who are also boys, that's why it's no doubt that I'm slightly boyish. Most of the time, me and my brother stay outside the house to play but my father became strict to us so he forbid us from playing outside. He lets us stay inside the house for us to study how to write and read. After four years of my birth, my mother gave birth to my younger brother, Dhaniel and another five years past when she gave birth again to my last and youngest brother, Samuel. I can say that I spent my childhood in a great way because I've done all the things that a child must experiece before he/she grew up.
I spent most of my chilhood and pre- teen days in Marikina Elementary School where I studied since Prep up to Grade 6. Here, I started as a simple student who just wants to learn and that's it. I never really expected something like being one of the top students or being a representative in some contest. I just really want to remain as a simple student, but it's hard to remain that kind of perspective because my parents expect something big for me that make's me pressured.
When our class started in Grade 1, I'm really, really shy and I don't put effort on the things that I do that's why I got failing marks and that continued until I was in Grade 2 and it made my parents really sad and frustrated to me. But when I was in Grade 3, I transformed myself into a new me and by that I became dilligent and have passion in my studies that brought me into "Top 8" at the end of our school year. When I was in Grade 4, I became too confident that I don't study because I trust myself too much for me to do it. So at the end of the school year my rank lowered and I just became the "Top 11" of our class. When I was in Grade 5 I became a real irresponsible student. That's why when the school year ends, I'm not schock when I found out that from "Top 11", I drifted into "Top 18". Before the Grade 6 school year start I promised to myself that I will study hard and promised to myself, too, that I will be a part of the Top 10 again. And so I did, I graduated as our batch "Top 10" and got an award as the "Best in Journalism: Filipino.
My elementary days ended the way as I planned. I graduated with honor and an award and most especially I found group of friends that supported me through all out!
High School, it is where you will experience most of the "first time" in you life. This is where students grow, mature and start exploring things that they've never done or experience before. Most people that had undergone High School says that it's the most memorable time and tiring time of their life!
Sta. Elena High School, this is the place were I'm currently spending my "high days" as a third year student. Back in Grade 6, when the information came that the passing of applications in Sta. Elena High School for ESEP students started I told it immediately to my parents because this school is my first choice in where will I study in High School. I also pass my requirements for Marikina Science High School but unfortunately I didn't pass through the interview but at the same time I'm happy because I don't really want to study in Marikina Science High School for the reason that it might add more pressure to me. So, here I am!
As a freshman, many things had changed in my surroundings. It includes my new classmates, new teacher and new phasing of study. I have to admit that I'm quite nervous at first, but eventually I overcome it and have the confidence and courage to go with the flow. Like in elementary, I started as a simple student but not long enough I came out of my shell and started to participate in class. I joined contests, too, whether as an individual or as a group which some of it I or we won. As the end of the school year came, I didn't expect much like being one of the top 10 students but I think luck is in my favour. I finished my freshman year as the "4th honor" of the class. Second year appears as the same but it's more challenging and exciting. I joined contests, too, as an individual and most with my classmates in which we won a lot. At the end of my sophomore year, I received some awards including "3rd honor", "Best in Filipino", "Best in Biology" and "Best in MAPEH".
Now, I'm currently a junior ESEP student. One more year to go and I'm in college! What they say is true about being in High School is fun and tiring which I can truly prove to you. But it's also true that it's one of the most memorable and fun stage of your life! It is where you will experience and feel everything including meeting new friends, having some enemies, being in a trouble, non- stop cramming and stomach ache because of non- stop laughing. Being in High School is fun so enjoy it!
