Clothing & Gear
    Militiamen           1775-1783
    All able-bodied men between 16 and 60 were members of the state militia.  Militiamen were to show up at regular musters for training and drilling.  Enlistments were at irregular intervals depending upon the situation.

    Each militiaman was to furnish himself with a flintlock and bayonet, sword or tomahawk, priming brush and pick, pouch,  gun flints, knapsack, blanket, canteen or wooden bottle, clothing, and possibly a jack knife.

Militiamen are to furnish themselves the gear mentioned above and the following: a tent and ground-cloth, fork, plate or bowl, lantern, hat or cap, stock or neck scarf, two shirts, waist coat, breeches or trousers or overalls, coat or cloak, shoes or moccasins, stockings and garters if needed.
