This little project works for 94-97 Accords. First you need a upper grill from a 94-95 Accord so if you already have an Accord from that year your one step ahead. First thing you want to do is to take off the grill. There was four screws holding it on and two little tabs on each side. I ended up breaking the tabs when i was pulling it off, but all you really need to hold the grill on is those 4 screws. Once you have it off there is a ton of screws holding on the grill to that back piece. Once you have your grill off of that you want to cut the middle bar thing with either a hack saw or any other thing that you feel would work. I also cut out the middle peice to the back part too. To fill in the holes where you cut use (fiberglass) Bondo and let dry. Once it hardened up I got some course sand paper (maybe like 60 grit or lower) and sanded where I put the bondo untill it was flush with the rest of the grill.
Now I took some 180 grit sand paper and sanded down the whole grill to remove all of the paint. Fill in any little divits with some spot putty. Then to make it really smooth use 1000-2000 grit sand paper (I used 600 and it seemed to work fine). Once you got all your sanding done go ahead and shoot on your primer.
Now go ahead and shoot on your paint. For me it took about 3 coats of paint, but use your good judgement on how many coats it will take.
And here is my final project. For the mesh just go to your local hardware store.
I also painted the hood latch gloss black because it was a greyish color and didn't look good behind my new grill. I just cleaned it off a bit and primered then painted.
Here's how it looks on the car.
