KATHLEEN COBB LEONARD
Katie is a third year doctoral student in developmental psychology in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. In general, Katie is interested in studying positive youth development and the role of culture and family in adolescent development. More specifically, her research interests are adolescent sexual activity, adolescent childbearing, and religiosity among youth. Katie's most recent project involved analyzing data on various risk behaviors among a sample of adolescent mothers in Philadelphia, which was collected by Dr. Scott-Jones and colleagues. For her dissertation, Katie will be examining data that she and other members of the lab will be collecting in local high schools. They will be interviewing seniors about important issues such as ethnic identity, sexual behavior, knowledge of HIV, and religious participation, practices, and beliefs. Katie's work will focus on the relationship between religiosity and sexual activity among adolescents.
