This is a picture of Cayuga Lake. It is one of the Finger Lakes in New York State.

Ithaca is located at the southern end of Cayuga Lake. The lake is 40 miles long, and 3 miles wide at it's widest point. They estimate the depth to be around 250 to 300 feet deep. In this picture, we can see less than 1/4th of the length. Many people like to go sailing, swimming, fishing, water skiing and do lots of other water sports. In winter, only around the edges of the lake freeze over - not the entire lake. There are many beautiful and expensive houses around the lake. It's great to take a dinner cruise and look at the houses while eating gourmet food.
