NBA MATRIX
NBA COACHES, the  best teachers of the NBA
Order of greatness ranked from 1 to bottom with 1 being the best
1)Jim O Brien
Head coach of the BOSTON CELTICS

BRillant thinker.....incredible basketball genius and one of the best coaches of this decade.......singlehandedly turned around the Celtic
Franchise... teaches incredible defensive techniques...has a good understanding of offensive sets despite people saying his teams shoot too many 3's.... great at developing players into superstars.... understands the need for role players...one of the best at making adjustments on a game by game basis.... can make any team great and any great team into CHAMPIONS....

2) Phil Jackson
Head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers

The best defensive coach In the ENTIRE NBA.... one of the best the nba has ever seen.... underrated because of superstar talent even though he developed that talent himself..... hard to believe that MJ or Kobe would have any rings if it werent for this man.... class act.... lets the players play while still keeping a competive atmosphere.... his defensive teachings allow his teams to make incredible comebacks in the fourth quarter on a consistent basis........There's a REASON why he's won 9 NBA Championships.....
3) Larry Brown
Head coach of the Detroit Pistons

Just a great overall and fundamental coach.... great defensive coach just like the 3 men above him.... teaches players the basics of the game and teaches them well.... gets his players to believe that they are serving a greater purpose of helping the team thus making them better roleplayers... good tactition and thinks a lot about the game but doesn't overthink like a lot of coaches sometimes do... needs to work on fourth quarter performance and making players hit big shots... needs to work players more...Still a FANTASTIC coach in all aspects of BBall
4) Don Nelson
Head coach of the Dallas Mavericks

Probably the Best OFFENSIVE coach in NBA HISTORY..... incredible offensive tactics and lets the players use their creativity in scoring buckets... gets the most of his players and can make even a mediocre player seem like a superstar..... still learning to teach defense but he's getting there.... uses ingenius tricks to win games...invented the Hack a shaq... great thinker and a pure basketball genius.... can make any team into a contender... led the milwaukee bucks to 9 straight division titles, and incredible feat... invented the term Big 3 and implements it on all his teams..
Order of coaches: Jim O Brien, Phil Jackson, Larry Brown Don Nelson, Rick Adelman, Isiah Thomas, Rick Carlise, Greg Popovich, Pat Riley, Doc Rivers, Paul Silas
5) Rick Adelman
Head coach of the Sacramento Kings

Great Fundamental coach....really works on the basics with his players like shooting, passing, rebounding, defending.... unfortunately he sometimes makes the players he coaches one dimensional and doesn't evolve thier games because of his love for the Fundamentals... great at passing and working the high low game... gets the most out of his players... just a great overall coach that loves to teach the game
6) Isiah Thomas
Head coach of the Indiana Pacers

Incredible toughness and passion, thats what he was known for as a player and its what he teaches his team... knows how to motivate and will do anything to win a game.... he tells his players to lie it out on the line every SINGLE GAME and to never let down... sometimes uses Dirty tactics and models the pacers after the 1980 Bad BOYs DETroit team... no matter what he tells to the press.. Championship TESTED and PROVED, Isiah's style is sure to add a ring to your finger....
7) Rick Carlise
Head coach of the not yet decided

Rick is a good coach that teaches tricky defense and uses lots of tricks... can turn pretenders into contenders... doesn't have a very solid foundational base and his teams wing it a lot... needs to get learn and teach more offense to his teams... still very young and new to the game.... needs to focus more on theb basics but what hes done with the DETROIT PISTONS is INCREDIBLE... despite the bad stuff some people say, it's the effect not the way you do it that counts and the PISTONS are at the TOP of the east
8) Greg Popovich
Head coach of the San Antonio Spurs

You're probably wondering why Greg is ranked 8 after winning coach of the year... well for starters he has the help of Tim Duncan, THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD....  Also he hasn't proven himself with a bad team yet... However he still has some fine points like utilizing the 2 time mvp where he's most efficient and teaching the rookies how to D IT UP.... needs to work on getting his teams to execute better and to shoot better... spurs have horrible team chemistry... Isn't much without having a superstar to coach but the job he's done in SA is more then enough to garner him a spot on the top 10 coaches list...
9) Pat Riley
Head coach of the Miami Heat

Pat is the darkhorse pick on this coaching list... His Miami Heat have been at the bottom of the league for quite a while but his history alone makes him a shoe in for this list.... Great fundamental coach that really understands how the game works.... utilizes big guys to their max and understands their importance in games... will work his players to the bone and teach them to play with intensity and passion.... Often fights with the refs ..... sometimes gets too angry and strict.... powerful coach with the right players
10) Doc Rivers
Head coach of the Orlando Magic

Doc is a good solid coach that will let the players play.... coach of the year 3 years ago.... won't transform a team like some coaches but is still plenty good... very young and is learning just like the players he coaches... has great potential and a very nice coach for TRACY MCGRADY.... needs to teach more defense because his offense is already good enough for any team....  very capable leader thats willing to do what it takes to help the team he's coaching
11) Paul Silas
Head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliars

He's a player's coach which is probably why the cavs chose him to coach Lebron James... good defensive coach but not great.... almost borders on one of those coaches that doesn't affect a team at all......
Paul is another solid coach that will let the players play.... he won't get in the way of a team and he won't make it too bad or too good... not championship proven yet and still has a long way to go offensively... good knowledge of the game and should be a good coach for Lebron James...
