Sarah Michelle Gellar plays the cool, hard-hitting vampire slayer, Buffy Anne Sumers. Her character started out as your average Californian teenager, then at the age of 15 she found out she was the slayer. A destiny of fighting demons and vampires and saving the world from evil is not every teenagers idea of fun. After she finally accepted it she fought evil creatures in L.A., and eventually got expelled from her school for burning down the school gym. However it was full of vampires at the time.

Along with her mother she moved to Sunnydale, California, also known as the Hellmouth. Where she then met some new friends, Willow and Xander, and her watcher, Rupert Giles. At times Buffy had been reluctant to be the slayer, but when she is needed the slayer in her always comes through. Living probably the hardest life there is to live, Buffy must face high school trauma, keep her slaying a secret from her mom, try to keep a social status and also deal with slayer problems.

Over the seasons Buffy developed a relationship with a vampire with a soul, named Angel. Their forbidden love struggled over the years through countless obstacles that the fates threw at them. In 'Becoming', the season finale, Buffy was kicked out of the house, expelled from school (again!), and had stabbed Angel with a sword, sending him to Hell. She saved the world again, but fled the city to find a new life.

After her return, Buffy dealt with a new troublesome slayer, sent to help, and the return of her lover from hell. The new slayer, Faith, Turned to the dark side, Angel broke up with her to give her a better life, and the town mayor turned out to be over one hundred years old, with intentions of destroying the town of Sunnydale. Angel's life was threatend by poison and Buffy gave her blood to save him. Weak, but determind Buffy went on to defeat the mayor (in snake form) by blowing up the school.

Throughout her first year at collage, Buffy strained to cope with the new pressures, new responsibilites and new struggles to be normal. After being used by one guy, Buffy became more cautious as to who she opened her heart to. She found a nice guy, grad student Riley Finn who showed promise. The two slowly built a relationship, which was both fueled and troubled by the fact that Riley was also in the business of fighting evil. He worked for the government to capture and study the demons of Sunnydale.
