Clay and Tiffany

My history goes back to my childhood,  like most to the Lassie movies.   At home in the early years we always had cross collies, my dad probably couldn't afford to buy a pedigree dog.  If he was alive today he would be very proud of my achievements.  When my husband and I were married I wanted a dog, a pedigree dog.  I also had a passion for the Irish Setter as well as the collie, so off we went one day to find a dog.  We had a list of both Irish Setter and Collie breeders and the collie breeder was the one on top of the list.  Well we never left that breeder without our collie baby.  Karlinja Alisa "Sandy".  She was our adored companion for many years.  After she died I was devastated.  My next collie was a surprise from my husband for my birthday.  Baliona Dark Donna "Pepper".    My husbands cousin saw in the paper that there was going to be a big Collie National Show at St Ives so off we went.

That was it, I was hooked.  The collies in that show just made me melt.  A show collie was for me and this is where it all began.  I mated Pepper and showed a dog and bitch from that litter  however as you can realise and I eventually did that my collie babies didn't look like all the others.  My search for a collie to show had begun.  I went and had a look at a litter  in 1988 that Karen Jones of Kingarth Collies had and there he was, a beautiful gold dog,  I took him home.  I showed Ch Kingarth Jimmy Jones "Jay" to his Australian Championship title, gaining many In Group and In Show awards at both all breeds and specialty level along the way,   he was and still is the love of my life and I miss his always.   He can be seen on our Champions page.

As we all know Collies loose their coats in our harsh summer, but I wanted to show,  it  was now in my blood .  I went to look for another breed to show while the Collies were changing their coat, and although my love for the Irish Setter  was still strong I thought a smaller breed would now suit my lifestyle .  The American Cocker took my eye.  How beautiful they were.  In 1991 I purchased my first Yank baby.  I also showed her through to her title her name was Ch Tessu Black Opal "Tiffany"  I mated Tiffany to the infamous Ch Spicnspan Zinalong, producing her son Ch Naywe Whispers nth Dark "Jackson"  although I also titled Jackson we lost him to a brain tumor at a young age.  I stopped showing Yanks after that and Tiffany just lived her days lazing around our home.  I still go to the Gundog ring when I get the chance to watch the Yanks but now only show the Collies.

Mum and The Dog Show

The house is neglected, the beds are unmade

The windows are hazy, the curtains are frayed

Books and pictures are scattered around

The larder is empty, no food to be found

.......................Mums gone to the dog show

There's dust in the corners, the pictures are wry

There' holes in our socks, the laundry's piled high

The porch needs sweeping, the chairs put in place

The weeds in the garden are growing a pace

.........................Mum's gone to the dog show

But we care not a whit, if she brings home the bacon

For  we have a champion in the makin'

We'll make our own beds and do pots and pans

We'll laugh at the dust, and eat out of cans

So Mum can go ....................TO THE DOG SHOW
