Pippin, bred at Southern City Haflingers, is the one and only Haflinger on the farm that epitomizes the breed's desired disposition. Despite having just turned five, he is the safest and most honest Haflinger on the farm. He is often called the "Nerdmonger" for his very nerdy behavior. For example, he fool-heartedly believes that he will be at the top of the pecking order as the youngest horse on the farm. To him, every person and horse he meets instantly becomes his lifelong friend. He is content to follow you and his Haflinger uncles around the pasture for long periods of time, and when you ride him he believes he is superman-- invincible and indestructible. Standing at 14 hands tall, he is not most beautiful flower in the garden. However, when he's ridden his exceptional movement and character shines through. He can do flying lead changes, lengthenings, and lateral movements. He is sensitive enough to ride without a bridle but "peppy" enough to race at breakneck speed through the fields. Pip was trained by Chesna and Kelsy when he was two and is living proof (so far) that "Kidmanship" (aka teenage girl style of taining, get on bareback with no bridle for his first ride sort of thing) can miraculously work. He was the first horse on the property to learn to lie down flat, and he will come from many feet away to an upraised arm. Pip has been to a dressage show, a jumper show (with no prior jump training, and took first anyway), and two events at Beginner Novice level. Pip is a one little pony that
doesn't know the word unhappy.
