New Age of Wrestling: Saturday Night Brawls (August 28th event) Preview by Harold Williams

After an exciting show on August 13th at the West Miami Recreation Center, New Age of Wrestling is returning to The Normandy Gym (1145 71st Street) in Miami, Florida on August 28th for, "Saturday Night Brawls". The event begins at 8:00 PM, and I suggest that you get there early to make sure that you don't miss a minute of the action.

In the main event, Kage McVay will be receiving the opportunity of a lifetime when he steps into the ring with J-Biggs for the NAW World Title. J-Biggs has gone through everyone who has been put in front of him for awhile now. However, it is possible that McVay can defeat J-Biggs if he can take advantage of the fact that this match is only days away. J-Biggs is probably feeling very overconfident now, as he stands atop of NAW as it's Champion. J-Biggs doesn't have much time to prepare and plan a strategy to use against McVay, and since he has been so dominant as of late, he most likely doesn't think that he has to. If McVay can use this to his advantage, we may be seeing a new NAW World Champion crowned on August 28th.

Mykal Manix was deemed number one contender to the NAW International Title as a result of his win over "Showtime" JB Cool earlier this month. Manix has defeated current Champion "Your Hero" Kolt before- does he have his number? Manix thinks that he does. A favorite quote of Manix' is, "It don't matter if I open or headline, just remember it's my time!" His goal is to take the pro-wrestling industry by storm, and he is confident that he can do so, but Manix' level of self-confidence could also turn out to be his downfall as well.

To truly understand the man known as Mykal Manix, we must look at his past, which is a very dark one indeed. WhenManix was a child, he was treated like an outcast. He was constantly embarrassed, aggravated, and given the cold shoulder by others. Whenever a child from the neighborhood was given a birthday party, young Manix was never given an invitation. When he needed help with homework, or just wanted to be noticed, Manix was ignored at home. He was confused, not knowing why he was treated that way, and not knowing where to turn. As a result, Manix dropped out of school and turned to the one thing that was always there for him- pro-wrestling. A fan of pro-wrestling since he was a child, Manix was about to turn his life around. Training to become a pro-wrestler gave him confidence in himself.

That is where the main differences lie between Kolt and Mykal Manix. Kolt thinks that he is better than everyone else, and has felt that way since he was a child. "Your Hero" doesn't know the meaning of self-doubt. Mykal Manix on the other hand, doubted himself most of his life. No matter how confident Manix is now, he lacked self-confidence too long in his life to not have a slight lingering of self-doubt within him. Especially now, as he is being faced with the one the biggest matches of his career. That is why it is so appropriate that Mykal Manix was born under the astrological sign of Gemini- the dual personality sign. Will the Mykal Manix of old resurface, plaguing him with self-doubt and lead him to defeat? Or will Manix continue to stand tall and become the next NAW International Champion? Be at The Normandy Gym on August 28th to find out.

"Your Favorite Wrestler" Danny Denis has a lot on mind lately. At the last NAW show, Denis lost a match for the NAW World Title in controversial fashion. He had Champion J-Biggs covered for what could been a three-count, but the referee was down at the time. Denis lost the match in the end, and now must once again work his way up the ladder before he can get another shot at the title. He will definitely be looking for someone to make an example out of on August 28th, and Luis "Too Much" Tricon is the person that has been placed in "Your Favorite Wrestler's" line of fire.

Brandon Starr is an athlete who I expect to see big things from in the future. Fast and agile, this human highlight reel never fails to amaze the fans with his highflying skills that rival any of the cruiserweights that you see on Thursday nights, and is a true X style wrestler. Want to come at him with a hardcore offense? Starr can work that style as well. I expect the NAW International Title to be back around his wait by the end of this year, and I suggest that you don't miss Starr in action on August 28th.

Kidd Krazy and "Fabolous" Dick Hard were originally scheduled to face each other at the last NAW show, but instead will meet on August 28th. This should be an interesting match, and NAW's main home of The Normandy Gym is the best place for it to happen.

Commissioner Bloodstone will also be making his presence known on August 28th, and one must wonder what Bloodstone will be up to. With J-Biggs having had left The Goodfellas faction, rumor has it that Bloodstone is looking for a new member. If so, I think that Bloodstone should give Kage McVay an offer that he won't be able to refuse. McVay has not been seen much in NAW since it's inception, and many NAW fans are unaware of exactly how dangerous he can be. When McVay used to fight on the streets of Florida, he was nicknamed, "Infamous", and proclaimed himself as being the most dangerous man on the streets. McVay can perform impressive moves such as the, "McVay Bomb" (a sit down, "Last Ride") and "tha McSault" (moonsault). He can make an impact on NAW with the right guidance, and Bloodstone is the person who could give it to him. Bloodstone wants The Goodfellas faction to hold all of the titles in NAW, and McVay will be receiving a shot at the NAW World Title on the 28th, currently held by J-Biggs, now an enemy of Bloodstone's. It wouldn't surprise me if Bloodstone involves himself in this match, in an attempt to cause J-Biggs to lose the title, help McVay win, and then recruit the grateful McVay into The Goodfellas faction.

Be there for all of the excitement! Tickets are $7 for adults, and $5 for kids.
