HOW THE
NAVY HELPS PAY FOR
YOUR COLLEGE EDUCATION
Montgomery GI Bill:
Available to first-time enlistees with high school or equivalency diplomas
Participants agree to contribute $100 a month during their first year's enlistment
Receive up to $35,460 for college expenses. Full-time students are paid benefits for a total of 36 months ($985 per month); part-time students are prorated on number of credits taken
May be used part-time after as little as two years of active duty
Eligibility continues for up to 10 years after discharge
Navy College Fund:
Available for high school graduates who are academically qualified for college
Available for Sailors in selected job classifications where critical shortages exist
Adds to Montgomery GI Bill benefits, for a total of up to $50,000 in college assistance
Enlistees in this program must also participate in Montgomery GI Bill
Enlistees may begin using this benefit after only two years of active duty
Navy Tuition Assistance:
For active duty personnel pursuing educational goals on their off-duty time
Pays up to 75% of tuition costs for accredited college and university courses
Pays up to $2,500 a year for undergraduate courses; up to $3,500 a year for graduate courses
Pays 100% of high school courses
Available for technical/vocational schools, business schools and independent study courses
Loan Repayment Program:
Repays up to $65,000 of student college loans
Qualified Sailors receive payment after completing one year of active duty and technical training in A-school
