The purpose of this website is to be a shop for a small mapping store. Some steps that I took in creating the website was to visit other websites that were online shops and also ones that specifically sold maps. That helped with getting an idea for my layout and the pages I should include.
For each page, I wanted them to have the same look as the other pages to keep things uniform, but also to make it easier to create the pages. I also wanted to keep the colors simple, so chose black and white. I felt this goes with the simple theme and offers great contrast for the banner elements. I did add some color to the navigation items to turn a light green when hovered over. I felt this gave some feedback to the user that these items were actionable to take the user to the page. My final decision was to keep the text simple as well, so that it was easy to read so I went with san serif type text such as Futura-pt, Arial or Helvetica
In the future, I'd like to add inventory links in the Map and Globe shops. Also, adding additional elements such as a links page to mapping websites that we enjoy or examples of different mapping products that are out there. Also a history page which goes into the history of the maps. I would add social media links to the shop's social media sites. Finally, I would continue to update the html and css to debug any bugs that are discovered.
