Profile                     : A technically correct top order batsman,he was considered only as a Test-match worthy player .He started his career with a bang.Scored 95 runs on debut at LORD'S.Had a forgettable One Day International debut.Against a string of failures,he fought his way into the  Indian eleven.His historic innings at Chennai against Pakistan in the Independence Cup and his 148 in South Africa bear testimony to his tremendous temperament.He was found unfit for the One day game for some time.He returned to the side in New zealand ending up with an undefeated century.He went to the World Cup in England and returned as the top scorer of the tournament.A new aggressive approach to his batting  has made him a much better player.He had a forgettable tour of Australia but has roared back to form with a string of centuries at home and away.
