| *** PERSONAL INFO *** Since I don't yet have a presentable photograph that pleases me, I selected the shot at left because the guy isn't half bad looking, but mostly because at this point in life, "He looks like I feel" I believe is the way I'd put it. I'm doing a career change that scares/excites me a little, but I'm also going through a bit of a self-discovery (trying to find out who I really am, I guess). So I start with a few basic, immutable facts I must live out the rest of my life with.. Nothing mysterious here: I'm a normal, happy-go-lucky, live-and-let-live kinda guy, basically. Definitely single and proudly heterosexual. (Sad that has to be pointed out, but it's necessary in this day and age.) I also happen to be Navajo..kind of my parents' idea, however I don't think I turned out too badly. 'Course that depends on who you ask.. "bad" is a relative term..so don't ask my relatives (ha!). I was born in Illinois in 1954, but spent most of my formative years in various "rez" communities (Kayenta, Tuba City, etc.), as they say, until I finally attended and graduated high school in Shiprock, New Mexico circa 1972. *** FAMILY INFO *** Like all Navajos, I have a large family comprised of my immediate "to-be-notified-in-the-event-of-my-untimely-demise" kin, as well as an extensive array of cousins, aunts, uncles - some of whom I'm sure I am still unaware - provided by the Navajo clan system. As to details: My mother's clan is Nakai Dine'e and my father's clan is Kinlichii'nii. It is, I know, pitiful that this is effectively the sum total of what I know about the clan system, so to be safe I'll just quote Forrest Gump and admit,".. that's all I have to say about that." I decline also to name any specific personages among my family tree just to steer clear of offending or accidentally implicating any of them by association. I have always considered myself somewhat of a "Black Sheep".. and it would ruin the unique status I have come to enjoy.. *** HOBBIES & INTERESTS *** I like to indulge a modicum portion of the baser appetites, like any red-blooded American male. This, of course, gets me in trouble with a few folks, but what can I say? I do, however, like to hike, read good books by classic authors (Updike, Hemingway, etc.) - none of the "slicks" (Hillerman, Suzanne, etc.), um, lessee. I like studying foreign languages (currently studying Spanish); I like riding horses.. and I like listening to good music,.. all kinds! (Except for "rap".) Well, that should do it for now. If I think of any more interests worth mentioning, I'll update accordingly.. I haven't yet come up with a comprehensive list of 'favorite' websites; what I've linked to over on the left should give you some insight to my character. I hope you find the selection of sites - like me - humorous and not too macabre, and maybe even a bit intriguing. At the very least, I hope it gives you a good reason to keep checking back to see what kind of trash my sick psyche drums up.. huh? |
