ENGLAND
Week 1: Sunday to Thursday
We arrived in England on Sunday & drove to Leigh on Sea in Essex to visit with Jackie and Louisa.

On Tuesday we headed off to Dover, via Canterbury, then across to Calais.
On Wednesday Jackie and I visited Cambridge:
Week 1 - 2: Thursday to Thursday
On Thursday we picked Koos up at Heathrow (on his 70th birtday, nogal) & visited Windsor, then settled in at our BnB in Shepherds Bush.

Our first evening we went into Soho to celebrate Koos's birthday.
On Friday we went to see some people I'd met in South Africa - Mike Wood and his family. They treated us to a wonderful day, at Chartwell (Churchill's home) and dinner.
On Saturday evening we went to see Les Miserables at the Queen's Theatre. What a show - I for one was very choked up when we came out.
On Tuesday we caught the ferry and cruised down to Greenwich, where we shown around by our friend from South Africa, Richard. Later we were joined by his partner Mark for a most enjoyable dinner.

On Wednesday Eddie & I headed down to Brighton on a hot and sunny day.
And they moan about the English weather? I don't know...
Week 2 - 3: Thursday - Saturday
We left London on the Thursday morning and headed up north, visiting Lincoln and sleeping over in a Yorkshire town called Howden.
On Friday we booked into our B&B in York, then met some friends from Lancashire, Gina and Mark.

On Saturday we were joined in York by Jax & Weeza. After exploring the Minster and the town again, we headed together for the Lake District.
We spent the week chilling (the word used advisedly, in all its meanings) at Whitbarrow Village - exploring the Lakes, playing tennis, ping-pong, swimming, eating...
On the Thursday we were joined again by Mark & Gina, who stayed over for the night.
We wanted to show them Brits how a real BBQ is done, but the weather wasn't kind. (No wonder the Brits can't braai - they never get any practice.)

On Saturday morning we left early to drive back: Jax & Weeza back to Essex, Koos to fly back to South Africa, and Eddie and I to fly to
SPAIN
Week 4: Saturday to Saturday
We arrived in Sitges (south of Barcelona), late and tired, and fed up with Iberian Airlines. Spain soon wove its magic and all was forgiven.
It was a magical week of fun and sun. We went into Barcelona twice, and did the whole tourist thing.
