The fight is unspectacular but dogged, the usual pattern being a long first run. Jacks use their flat sides to good advantage when waging a tug-o-war. |

BLUE RUNNER OTHER NAME: Hardtail Jack, Runner, Blue Jack SPECIES: Caranx Crysos SIZE: 1-2 pounds, grows to about 4 pounds WORLD RECORD: 11 pounds GAME QUALITIES: Blue Runners fight so well for their size that guides often have trouble tearing their customers away, after stopping to catch some Runners on spinning tackle for us as offshore bait. |
