I Never Knew
It would seem I've been loved my whole life through,
But this sweet union is a love I never knew.
I never knew I'd live to know such bliss,
That I'd feel the gentleness of such a kiss.
I never knew the warmth that could be held in a touch,
That the dark depths of searching eyes could say so much.
I never knew such an endless joy could exist,
That when gone for just a moment I could be missed.
I never knew the tingling thrill of hearing that one voice,
The one's breath could stop waiting for my choice.
I never knew that a simple yes could hold such power,
That my life and another's could be changed in one sweet hour.
I never knew the passion held in a tight embrace,
That the fire I felt could be echoed in another's face.
I never knew the ecstasy of hands moving slowly over me,
That simple words could easily be my heart's key.
I never knew the comfort of being held in another's arms,
That I could press close and be safe from the world's harms.
But most of all I never knew a love, such a sweet love,
As the love I know with you.
