The Legend of Pompey
A short introductory note:
the spelling of the word "Pompey" is deliberate and has a certain significance regarding the background of the story's origin... those knowing who the story's about know why, others are free to hazard a guess ;-)
I have used the correct spelling in the foreword, however, as that part is dealing with the "real" Pompeii.
Foreword

Having started to read a book about the last days of Pompeii my thoughts have wandered around and about this story. The big catastrophe, the day this blooming city was buried underneath lava and ashes, conserving its inhabitants, houses and streets.
I was wondering why.
Why had Pompeii deserved a fate like this?
Naturally I came to a quite clear (at least for me) conclusion.
The God or Goddess of the volcano must have been angry with the people of Pompeii. Something must have inticed her wrath.
And I know of only one emotion with such a lethal, devastating, horrifying power.
Jealousy.
"Stood below the columns
And I pondered on a why."
