NORMAL/COMBINATION SKIN

If your skin is 'well behaved',
you will not induce 'bad behaviour' by using any of the recipes in this section !!!
I have chosen a few of my basic recipes to list here.

Do feel free to e-mail me with your comments!!

Rapid Cleansers

Plain live yogurt applied to the skin
will clean away dirt, grime and light make-up.

Massage gently into the skin and splash off with tepid water.

Mix 1 tbsp of finely ground Oatmeal
with 2 tbsp of warm water.

Gently rub into the skin and then rinse off with tepid water.

Avoid the eyes!!

As you will realize, this cleanser is best used when not wearing make-up on your eyes.

Your eyes will not appreciate being filled with ground oatmeal !!

Jojoba Oil or Grapeseed Oil are very effective
in removing stubborn mascara, even waterproof !!

Grapeseed Oil in particular is very good at caring for the skin around the eye area. (Use sparingly).   It has been clinically proven and you will find grapeseed extract as an ingredient in lots of the more expensive eye care products out there.   But hey, why pay the prices charged for these products when you have the ingredients at home??

SKIN TONICS/TONERS

Chamomile tea
makes a marvelous skin tonic that will not strip the skin and alter it's natural pH balance.

Infuse the Chamomile tea bag in boiling water,  just as you would if you were going to drink it!!   Leave to cool until tepid, remove the tea bag and splash the solution onto your face and neck.   Pat the skin dry gently.

Chamomile is renowned as having a calming effect on our senses and it will calm our skin too!!   In hot weather, store in the fridge and spritz onto the face to cool your skin (and senses!!)

Rosewater
is the most wonderful skin freshener.

This can be purchased from all pharmacies and is very inexpensive. Store in the fridge during hot weather.   Apply from cotton wool pads,  wiping gently in circular movements from the chin upwards and out in a clockwise direction.

To 100mls Rosewater add 50mls of Witch Hazel and shake together, this is beneficial to those with breakouts of spots, pimples and/or acne.  This too is a refreshing tonic to spritz onto the face and neck  during the summer or on long journeys.  Plastic spritzer bottles are readily available in most Chemists/Pharmacies. They are inexpensive.

I adore Rosewater, it calms my senses and my skin, inducing a feeling of well being.

Cider Vinegar

1tbsp added to a large tumbler of cool water and stirred makes a wonderful tonic. It has a duel effect though.  Cider Vinegar when in dilution, will restore the skins natural pH balance. This is very important.  It helps to prevent spots, pimples or at the other extreme, dryness.

If you have unsightly open pores on your face,
Mother Nature has given us yet another solution !!  A slice of lemon rubbed gently over the area.  These open pores usually appear around the chin, nose and brow.  However, avoid getting the lemon juice into your eyes !!  The juice of Lemons make the open pores appear smaller.  Over time they will in fact reduce in size.  Lemon juice will also fade freckles, but, please do not expect to apply the juice, look in the mirror and they are gone !!
