Snow Clouds

Above the oak and maple tree,
an elegance appears
as landscape bows to royalty
and wintertime is here.

Snow clouds touch a withered field
and trails where pinecones hide.
Falling memories soon reveal
a beautiful countryside.

The earth accepts her ivory crown
the season can begin.
Tonight I lay my burdens down,
it's snowing once again.

Stars

The stars are translucent;

tartan images burst from shade to sun

applauding.

I am lost in ovation,

breathing sky and resonating movements that I can

never win.

How they lose their radiance when falling

ebony to ivory, as points of ballet dance

across the stage.

Sparrow

There's loneliness beneath the sparrow's wing
her breath is painting crystals in the rain.
In wintertime her feathers move to sing
in wonder if she'll live till spring again.

I find her in the field at crescent moon
it seems as though the light has sent a call
we'll cry and say goodbye to afternoon
and I will leave when snow begins to fall.
