Personal statement:
I’m the consummate daydreamer. I was the girl in the back of the class with her head in the clouds, getting into trouble and not paying attention to her teacher. However, as I grew into an adult, and literally stumbled upon poetry and writing, I discovered that it was the perfect fit for me. I constantly create little scenes, and characters in my head and I realized (quite by accident) as a writer I was able to find a home for all those images and worlds. Therefore, I began writing them down and it’s allowed me to cleanse my soul and yet at the same time, escape into another world.
Morning Awakening
Laying on the cool grass;
eyes closed in delicate surrender,
imagining I'm the splendid Blue Jay.
Soaring prettily over trees;
wind slipping through my feathers,
letting God's compass be my guide!
Meditation Recorded
A leaf floats by;
close my eyes
hear bird's cries.
--I breathe
A hound dog's sigh;
jasmine breezes
sun warmed feet.
--I breathe
The monarchs fly;
my thoughts slow
by the creeks flow.
--I breathe
Of Morning
Upon a broken leaf
Drip-dropping.
A life of tears is thee;
Of morning ‘tis worshiping!
Formed and coagulated
In life-like magic,
Is the dew
Of morning’s sweetening!
Dying
Soon I'll meet flowers with honeysuckled perfume,
Taste orchards filled with daylight,
Half stare of sweet love passed,
'Neath your rainbow of Peace.
And so in Lord's eyes
I bloom.
Within His wings
Shall I unfold.
