Silver and Gold

The evening sky

full of many hues,

there's pink and gold

and shades of blue.

Your golden eye

sinks out of sight,

behind that mountain

you take your light.

Such stillness here

as you fade away,

you've gone to light

someone else's day.

You leave me here

on the mountain top

with a coal black sky

where the moon will stop.

With twinkling stars

all silver and bright,

It's breath taking

this shining night.

Nightime silver

Daytime gold

something I treasure

as I grow old.

An Autumn Walk

Take my hand

walk with me

I want to share

what I will see.

Out by the fence

and through the gate

the worn down path

Queitly waits.

The tall pines tower

over you and me

this time of year

only green I see.

The needles blow

they hold on tight

when covered with frost

an icy delight.

The dead leaves crunch

as we walk along

it's a pleasant sound

this autumn song.

Way overhead

up in the blue

a V of geese

are passing through.

Out on the lake

this early morn

the rising mist

the reeds adorn.

The empty limbs

of the towering oak

resemble skeletons

of long dead folk.

Come lean with me

against this tree

on a windy hilltop

your heat warms me.

Dreams

On my way

to the little red house

the one upon the hill,

I met him there

the keeper of dreams

and I remember him still.

He said " Look around you

the mountains and lakes,

the fields full of wild flowers.

A setting like this nurtures dreams.

So I sit here for hours.

On a warm summer night

from the black velvet sky

I can reach out

and catch a dream

and when I listen close

I can hear them there

in that rushing mountain stream.

The wild flowers

all nod their heads

when the breeze passes

through their petals.

Oh magical dreams

I know you well

I see you frolicking

in the meadows.

Please pass me one

a dream of joy

where I'll be followed by happiness.

In the dawn of day

when the sun comes up

I will surely feel I'm blessed.
