Arrival

 

Clouds boil on the horizon,

Charging towards the land.

Swells lift their shaggy white manes,

And stampede against the beaches,

Tearing them apart with watery hoofs.

Lightening splits the sky,

Illuminating.

God’s bowling ball thunders across heaven.

Trees bend and sway,

Powerful oaks snap like twigs,

Reeds bow, dancing with the wind.

Building shutter and shiver against the cold.

The heavens cry upon the earth,

Hail beats the ground.

Noon turns midnight black,

The storm has arrived.
