Life’s Storm

At the dawn of our existence upon this earth so fine

Before us face the mountains of life’s hurdles yet to climb

Trickling streams of friendship flowing on to rivers of love.

Onwards to seas of content, ardor rains from skies above

Rivers of passion we have to cross till we reach the seas of calm

To shelter in the harbor of our own true sweethearts arms.

A whirlwind of romance, gentle sighs of a summer breeze

Rays of happiness shine down upon life’s choppy seas

At times our dreams come crashing down as the waves upon the rock

To be dragged back, once again, life’s ecology to knock

With thunderclouds of emotion and tears that fall like rain

Drowning in the weather of life, stabbing lightening bolts of pain.

Disasters, as a tornado from nowhere, do appear

Hurricanes of troubled times, and thunderstorms of fear

Our life washes to and fro as the waves upon the beach

Till the gentle calm of evening years, and unto the skies we reach.

At the dawn is our birth, through torrential years strife

We reach out to the heavens, till the sunset of our life.

Till the evening of our years on earth our landscape we transform,

Doing battle with the elements of life's tremendous storm.

Love’s Garden

I wish that I could clear the path,

That we both wish to tread,

I’d cut down the weeds of sadness,

And burn the vines of dread.

I would rid life’s garden of nettles

And plant Roses in their place,

So you could feel their beauty

of true love upon your face.

The trees of overbearing hurt,

I would prune back into shape,

And with loving care let them grow

Till loves blossom upon them drape.

The ageing lawn of life’s broken heart,

Will be tended with great care.

Until a sea of luscious love,

Fills in the patches there.

A precious garden I offer you,

With peace and filled with hope,

With flowers of joy and happiness,

fruits of future for us to grow.

For I shall always love you,

From now right to the end,

And you shall always be to me,

my true love and my best friend.

The Storm

The heavy air so oppressive,

As slowly stillness invades,

The cooling sun now hidden,

Gathering clouds bring shade.

Slowly, quietly, a rumble so feint,

Barely audible to the ear.

Nature halts in a deathly hush,

Sensing a time of fear.

Gradually increasing, rumbling on,

Skies darken at the approaching force,

Dampness increasing, brings droplets of rain,

The storm speeds its forward course.

Winds rising, leaves start to rustle, plucked by an unseen hand,

Branches swaying, bending, creaking, straining to the winds command.

Raindrops, wetting, bouncing, splashing, assaulting the ground below,

Lightening flashing, thunder crashing, the earth flinches at every blow.

The strong wind howling, thunder growling, lightening strikes out once more,

The old tree crumbles, branches crashing, uprooted and thrown to the floor.

Wind easing as the tempest moves on, rain slowing slightly in pace,

Rivulets running as the gathering rain, spews from the earths embrace.

Grumbling thunder recedes to the distant hills,

Calm once again to restore,

Final droplets of rain from the heavens above,

Softly land on nature’s décor.

As the storm fades to the distance,

Twitching noses at last appear,

To survey the sodden, broken ground,

Wild eyes, surveying the scene in fear.

Confidence growing, they slowly emerge,

Paws testing, earth wet from the rain,

Until at last they come to see,

The earth is at peace again.

Wrecked

Waves crashing, pounding and sweeping,

Powerfully dragging the rock

Beating, pulsing, buffeting and hammering,

Rolling on to seemingly mock

~~~~~~
Inspiring, drawing, exalting, refreshing,
Bracing, and brisk as the storm.
Bobbing and swaying, dipping and plunging,
The ship fights for its life safe from harm.
~~~~~~

Crunching and crashing, the iron hull bending,

Splitting, oozing Black Death from the shell

Slowly spreading, life suddenly dreading,

The creeping thick death, in the swell

~~~~~~
Wildlife despairing, evasion impairing,
The blanket of destruction steals on
Soothing the waves, sending lives to their graves
The ultimate conclusion forgone
~~~~~~

Silence overtakes, the seas empower,

The shore with its deathly shroud,

The beaches pure, now to display

Glutinous masses so lately endowed

~~~~~~
Wriggling, squirming, fighting for breath,
Struggling for ease from their plight,
Gasping, and rasping, losing their strength
The death toll goes on into the night.
~~~~~~
