As Nature Intended

A colourful bird glides gently over the bright summer meadow
Its beautiful song resonates through the air
The Tranquil scene compliments the bird's effortless flight
Floating gently on zephyrs whilst watching below
Silently, patiently waiting for food to appear
Unseen to human eyes but not the winged stalker
The small field dweller leaves his secure home
Searching for food on the sun scorched ground
The feathered predator swoops silently toward its prey
Catching it at its most vulnerable
Extinguishing its life in a single move
The primeval violence of feeding time
Contrasts the placid rural scenery
This is summer – This is life
Peace, violence & beauty – hand in hand

Colour

Swirling reds dance in the fire
Azure blues contrast the spire
Blazing yellows avert our eyes
From fluffy white clouds in the sky

The mocha tones of Irish bogs
Multi-coloured trees & logs
Wispy white trails of marshland flowers
Keep minds engaged for many hours

The indigo blue darkens quickly
Transforming hue to purple swiftly
The colourful scenes darken down
Shades of black are all around

Four Seasons In One Day

I woke in the morning
Frost was on the ground
My breath was clearly visible
Spring chill was all around
As the sun rose higher
The cold did dissipate
Warmth then began to overtake
At quite a steady rate
When the sun hit it's zenith
Heat did radiate
The glory of the summer
A feeling did create
Our sun did then fall lower
The warmth and feel of Fall
Red, Gold and Green upon the trees
Surrounding one and all
Once the skies had darkened
Light had all but gone
Winter's Chill descended down
The seasons had all shone
This day had proved a theory
A song that people know
Sensing all four seasons
In one day - All on show

Rain

The rain is falling loudly
It's keeping me awake
Though it's not suprising
This weather creates this state
You see - I love a rain storm
I simply cannot sleep
When I hear the patter
Of rain or heavy sleet
The wonder of a water storm
Overcomes me with an awe
Watching raindrops falling
Makes me wish for more
It's late - I should be sleeping
Though rain - It beckons me
Calling out so noisily
Come look - You have to see
Thunder is now crashing
It's turning to a storm
This really is a pleasure
And makes me feel reborn
I know now I won't sleep well
I'm listening to the storm
Darkened clouds and raindrops
To them I am drawn
In the morning sunlight
The air will be crisp and clean
Colours refreshed and glistening
A sight that's so supreme
My weather wise fixation
May seem wierd to some
I also know of others
To this they all succumb
Whilst I glory in this feeling
Please don't think me mad
It's a quirk of my behaviour
Really not that bad
I'll finish of my musing
So I can sit and stare
Wonder at the beauty
For sleep - I just don't care

The King Of Storms

The mighty King of Storms
Rolled into town tonight
A balmy summers’ evening
Covered by his curtain of black
Announcing his arrival
His entourage grew closer
Their rumble growing ever closer
Flashing light accenting his arrival
His dark noisy presence enclosed me
Lit only by his bright forks of light
What a joy to behold
The power, magnificence and terror
Brought down on me by the dark ruler
Though the heavens opened
It didn’t rain on his parade
Just part of this wondrous spectacle
Oh King of Storms – I welcome thee
Your visit inspires me so
I sit agape in wonder and awe
Hoping it will never end
As I sit here you pass me by
Wondering when you’ll return
So I can once again admire your majesty

The Open Air Theatre

Laying here in the tall grass
Eyes gazing up to the skies
I watch the clouds passing
The bright whiteness contrasting
Deep azure hues of blue
Shapes and pictures float by
Creating a movie show
Of wondrous proportion
No story line to follow
Only the one in my head
Just random pictures
Transfixing the imagination
For what seems an eternity
Countries, cars and mystical beasts
Pass as I gaze overhead
An avant garde movie
By an unknown director
Holds the attention for hours
Shadows creating patterns
As the clouds travel along
Time has passed me by
I revel in the glory
I’m leaving soon
This movie is great value
I’ll be back to catch the re-run!

Waterfall

The watery curtain
With the silvery sheen
Plummeting down from high
Just looking through
It’s rumbling flow
Wonder you can’t belie
Nature’s beauty personified
The danger very clear
All obvious to the eye
Creating it’s own energy
This torrid, aqueous sight
It’s beauty you cannot deny
