Garcinia Cambogia Extract - Natural Weight Loss Supplement

There is a small tropical fruit named "garcinia cambogia," that grows in Africa and India. Recently it has received attention in the western world as a weight loss supplement. Although there are some studies that are not conclusive, there are several studies where it helped subjects lose weight. These studies have concluded that, for many people, it can be an effective supplement for weight loss.

Like oranges and lemons, it is a citrus fruit. You wouldn't want to eat this fruit because it is too sour, but the rind used as a spice in Indian cooking. The substance that is extracted from the fruit to be used as weight loss supplement is named "hydroxycitric acid."

Hydroxycitric acid (HCA) is not an appetite suppressant or stimulant (like caffeine). Both of these directly work on the nerve centers of the brain and can have undesired side effects. Such side effects include causing food binges when you stop taking them! Instead, HCA improves the signaling system that the body uses to tell the brain when it has eaten enough and satisfies the body's need for energy. In overweight people, there is often a problem that this response is delayed, which causes them to continue eating, more than they need.

Garcinia cambogia extract or hydroxycitric acid (HCA) appears to function best in combination with chromium. Chromium helps to regulate the body's blood sugar levels. Often, the mineral Chromium is lacking in our diets as we get older. A deficit of chromium can contribute to weight gain and possibly diabetes. However, before taking any products containing chromium, you should see your doctor if you have diabetes already.

As with any supplement, you should be cautious if you're pregnant or breast feeding. Do not take HCA. Also, you should consult with a doctor before giving it to children. Also, if you have problems with migraines or arthritis, you may also want to avoid HCA, as both of these can be made worse by citrus fruits.

HCA has been shown to work best in people who overeat when they are stressed or anxious. It provides the same calming effect for them that they get from food. As a rule, there are no special foods to eat when you are taking HCA, and also there are no prohibited foods. If you choose healthy foods you should find that you lose fat and weight slowly and steadily, and without really trying. You may eat slightly smaller portions and substitute fruit instead of sugary snacks but there is no need to go hungry to lose weight. This is a very natural way to lose weight.

HCA, unlike many other natural weight loss supplements, has been extensively tested in research laboratories on both animal and human subjects. There have been no side effects found from HCA. You can find this natural weight loss supplement at many sources online. It may be labeled either hydroxycitric acid or garcinia cambogia extract.
