This 11 pieces COMBO from TOKYO, plays the most beautifull combination of Jamaican Riddims, on traditional stylee, featuring a nice mix up between SKA - ROCKSTEADY - REGGAE and even KALYPSO and R&B. These guys are established as a band since 1996, playing on Japan's underground SKA scene and adopting the name *-MULE TRAIN-* from a PRINCE BUSTER & the SKATALITES tune, but they'd started their recording career releasing a couple of 45 RPM 7" singles on 2002 on their own label LAMB STAR rec. and on the follow years 2003 and 2004 they recorded 2 wonderful CDs plus 2 new singles to promote each of their albums.

The 2003 is the year of Mule Train's debut record tittled "Humming Bird". They are a mainly instrumental band, so this record is almost instrumental, except for two songs, "Naughty On The Muddyroad", and a great ska version of the all times classic "Fly Me To The Moon" very popular song in Japan nowadays. All tunes are awesome interpretations with original Jamaican stylee riddims. We have lot of great Ska pieces as "Bazra Ahead" - "Breeze Of The West" - "Me'n You" and "In A Mellow Summer". Also have a cool Rocksteady organ on "Messier" that remembers Jackie Mittoo soulful style, and talking about the late great Mittoo, the guys pay tribute to him and the Soul Brothers with their fantastic version of "VOODOOMOON" wich is at same level as the original recorded on Studio One on 60's. Finally the album ends so hi with a big fat R&B that sounds as good as early BLUE BEAT recordings. This record will keep you moving your feet from start to end, so better put on your dancing shoes before start to listen, and just enjoy!.

Only one year later of their brilliant debut CD "Humming Bird", on 2004 The MULE TRAIN combo is back again with a cool & fresh brand new recording. This time 11 tunes take part of their new material, and to promote the CD they'd launched a 45 RPM 7" for their first single "Down In My Soul" b/w "Cornmeal Dumpling", even when I'd first listened this CD, I can't stoped to repeat "Down In My Soul" all day and night in my head. This new CD have also a few vocal tunes like the mentioned hit "Down In My Soul", "Hundred Times" and the Calypso blended "Cornmeal Dumpling" that is a totally different vesion as the one that appears on B side of the single, the tune is originally done in the 60's by the famous Ska drummer Arkland Parks a.k.a. DRUMBAGO. Other Calypso spiced song is "Pressure Mouth" with a little bit of Hiltonairs style here and there. Other great tunes to mention are "Might Is Right" and "Grand Cayman" on wich the band show their hability to emulate the famous Prince BUSTER's early DJ style specially this last one, that have a big potential as classics as Dance Cleopatra and with DOCA playing his drums inna Burru Style (style developed by Mr. Lloyd knibb, original Skatalites drummer back in the 60's). The record ends with a lovely melodica instrumental tune, with a soulful melodic line, that sound as GAZ MAYALL meets MULE TRAIN. Also I was amazed to discover that drummer DOCA did composed various great tunes on this record, as drummers are not so common to be compossers, so this show the HI Quality musical level of the band members. What more can I say? Another Awesome work from this Awesome band so then RIDE ON this MUSICAL TRAIN! and keep dancing and enjoying!.
