| First things first...the alphabet. In Japanese, there are THREE systems of writing - hiragana, katakana, and kanji. Kanji is the most used, hiragana used for particles and syllables, and katakana is used for writing foreign words. Hiragana Katakana Kanji Once you know how to read and write, you can move on to the next -and probably most difficult- step- talking.
