COINS OF FINLAND - EURO COINAGE

As in many countries of Europe, with the story of unique currency for all countries in EU, coins appeared with national motives of each country yet since eighties. Mostly private issues, they were also minted in Finland. But finally, on new year's day 2002, Finland, like the other 14 members of the Euro zone, started using and producing own Euro notes and Euro coins for cash transactions. Within a few months, the old Markka coins and banknotes have been withdrawn. Finland chose three designs based upon motifs similar to those used on national coins.

NOTE: KM numbers in brackets are not still in Krause catalogue, but those numbers should be in logical sequence, by the issue date.
