Dear Pow Wow Vendors/Merchants,
As you know, the Stockton Community Labor Day Weekend PowWow has changed it’s location from University of the Pacific to Stockton’s Weber Point at its Downtown Waterfront Center.
Our location at U.O.P. was not available to us due to their renovation schedule. While we have enjoyed our time with them, we had to choose a new location that would allow access to a large population and offer the public a chance to see who we are as a Native American Indian Community, and to participate with us as we celebrate our youth and culture. Our Vice chair had a vision to bring this event to the Waterfront against the odds, with his tireless efforts, and with the assistance of few, he has succeeded in meeting the City of Stockton’s requirements and was able to secure the location for this event bring to the public our culture and dance to the Waterfront. We also believe this new location will draw a large amount of “foot traffic” which has created a huge potential to increase sales for you as a vendor.
For those of you who have attended other functions as a vendor in a city location, you are aware that the City of Stockton as a rule assesses a percentage of the vendor’s gross receipts. As in this case, the City of Stockton originally requested that vendor’s pay not only a fee, but they also required, that you as a vendor/merchant, have a million dollar liability policy, as well as charging 15% (food vendors) and 10% (merchandise) of your gross receipts. However, through the tireless efforts of our Vice Chair again, he was able to have the vendor assessed fee reduced from the original 15% (food vendor) and 10% (merchandise) to a now to only 5% (food vendor) and 3% (merchandise).
This fee is being assessed by the City and payable to them and not the Committee. We believe the reduced fee amount is a fair assessment compared to the fees being assessed by other City events in both Stockton and the surrounding cities.
The fees due to the city are listed on the follows pages. If you are interested in participating as a vendor in this event, please complete the following documents and submit them to the corresponding entities’ with proper payment, prior to the due date.
Payment (or deposit) for space rental is due no later than July 13th, 2007, to the Stockton PowWow Committee, and the City assessed fee is due no later than ten (10) days after the event: September 11th, 2007.
