The
Native Sons and Daughters program is a successful Father
and Daughter or Father and Son
program for girls and boys ages 5 to 14. The
program provides the
opportunity to strengthen father and child relationships
through activities that are both challenging and fun!
Dads
and their sons or daughters gather in small groups called “Tribes.” These
tribes meet together on a monthly basis during the school year. Periodically,
Fort Wayne area tribes gather together for Nation events. Events include:
bowling, miniature golf, roller skating, kite flies,
laser tag, and the highlight of events— CAMPOUTS!
Fall
and winter campouts are in cabins at a YMCA or similar
summer camp facility. The spring campout usually involves
tent camping at a state park. At campouts,
Tribes compete in events such as tug-of-war and three-legged races with
Dad. In the winter, there’s plenty of time for
sledding and snow sculpture. In the fall and spring there’s
canoeing, nature hikes, and outdoor events. Each campout
includes songs around the fire, free time, a morning
chapel service
and awards presentation.
