Native American flute music is a bridge between Generations, Cultures and Genders , music heals broken hearts and loneliness, music has the power to take us back in time or forward into the future, it can rally people to share one spirit, it can make us laugh, cry , dance and sing, music honors our people and our way of life, it has the ability to carry a powerful message or it can simply soothe a weary soul.
The Native American courting flute has been around for more than 2,500 years, it is the oldest wind instrument in our Country, most tribes have passed down sacred, social , family and honoring songs.
The men of the tribe taught their sons and in turn they would grow up to teach their sons and Grandsons,
Native flute players continue to keep the ancient songs of our people alive for all generations to enjoy, we are NOT a dieing breed, we are growing in numbers everyday, today woman are now enjoying the art of playing the native flute, something that was not possible in the near past, we give our hearts to our craft so that we can continue to reach the hearts of those who will pick up the flute in the future.
This is truely an exciting time for native flute music , we are approaching a new era in native flute music with such inventions as double and triple flutes and there is no saying where it will end. |
