Littlewolf was 5 winters old when he started having dreams of when he could go on his vision quest,to find his spirit guide."GeeMaw Maw" When can i go on my Vision Quest? asked littlewolf.His mother took her time in answering her son..."Son" she said When you are old enough to take care of yourself & have grown a little taller."But GeeMawMaw said Littlewolf,I can do that now. His mother smiled and held him close...humming a tune that he would remember forever.

Littlewolf was so happy! The day had finally come for him to leave on his VisionQuest. His young body had grown into a strong young man,almost as tall as his father Chief Wolf's Blood. He knew at 15 winters, he could take care of hisself and handle any tests or trials the Great Father would send. He was strong for his age,with an intellegence that surpassed his years. And he was a very compassionate young man, who was loved by many. That morning Littlewolf hugged his GeeMawMaw good-bye. He stopped at the edge of the village and turned to look back on all he loved and held dear. With his head held high he started into the forest to go to where the Two Snakes River and The Sideways Mountains met.There he would start his journey.

Littlewolf traveled for a long time. He came to the river and followed it to the Sideways Mountains. He watched the eagles gliding through the beautiful sky. He smiled and turned into the forest. One and a half days journey into the woods found what Littlewolf was looking for.Before him stood the tallest tree he had ever seen.Branches three feet wide in places. He climbed the tree till he came to a spot where there was a fork going out to reach towards the heavens.He took smaller branches and made a place to sit and pray to the Wise One Above... His mind wandered to his home to his beloved GeeMawMaw and GeeBahBah.He was really getting hungry. To take his mind off his growling stomache he started humming,a tune his mother had hummed to him since he was a child.A peacefullness enveloped him. Night came and morning dawned clear and wonderful. Littlewolf wondered when his spirit guide would come to him. He was a very patient young man so it did'nt bother him that nothing had happened so far.

The days and nights ran together for Littlewolf,but on the third night he began to feel detached and the dreaming began... He was on the forest floor,"How did i get here?" Littlewolf asked himself...He looked around...Nothing was familier. Then he heard it, something was coming towards him, he crouched and waited. From just beyond his vision came a lone howl that filled his heart with joy.

My spirit guide has come he thought and began to pray. Next time he opened his eyes there he saw...A very large silver wolf,its eyes shined like the glow from the white moon. He asked Littlewolf why he had come...to which Littlewolf replyed "O Great Wolf of the Forest" I have come to find my spirit guide. Have you come for me? The great Silver Wolf watched Littlewolf for several minutes,then said follow me and i will show you what awaits you young man of the people.

Littlewolf walked back with the Silverwolf in the direction from which he came. Soon they came upon a small creek. Littlewolf was in awe as he looked around him. The clearest water,the greenest grass,the most beautiful flowers,but the most amazing thing was the variety of animals on the banks of the creek. As he looked around he saw a bear, a rabbit, a squirrel, wolves and they were all together in unity as one. The way Wise Father Above intended.The Silverwolf told Littlewolf to look and remember. All life should live in harmony. Let us go said the Silverwolf, I have much to show you and not much time.

Not much time? quizzed Littlewolf,Is something wrong? No Littlewolf nothing is wrong but Winddancer will be coming soon and we must see certain things before she comes. Littlewolf wondered but said no more. He followed Silverwolf. Littlewolf and his guide turned from the creek and walked into the woods. It seemed like no time at all when wolf pointed with his snout, there is where we head next. Littlewolf looked and there was the Sideways Mountains. He looked down at the Silverwolf and asked "Oh Great Silverwolf what will you show me here?" "look" said Silverwolf..About that time a fawn stumbled onto the path, eyes wide with fright, new legs unsteady it looked at Littlewolf. Oh Wise One Above what should i do? Littlewolf was'nt sure but he knew he had to help. He moved closer to the fawn and the fawn leaned into Littlewolf's leg. He looked around but wolf was gone. Well i am here and i will help you little one. Littlewolf picked up the baby dear and headed down the path. As he walked Littlewolf hummed a well remembered tune that made Littlewolf long to see his GeeMawMaw. He was tired and he was hungry. He decided to sit and rest for a few minutes in a clearing beside the path. He layed the fawn down beside him and closed his eyes.

Not to much later he opened his eyes and realized the fawn was gone. "Where did it go?" thought Littlewolf. He looked in the edge of the forest and just did see the baby.... it was walking beside another baby and it's mother. Littlewolf smiled and knew that the baby dear would live. When he turned back around he saw wolf. What have you learned Littlewolf? asked the Silverwolf. Littlewolf thought for a moment then replyed... To help someone in thier time of need makes you feel really good....Silverwolf stared at Littlewolf for a few minutes and said, now we continue on our journey.

Littlewolf felt like he had walked for days but it had only been a couple of hours. They crossed the Swirling Clouds Pass, they went down through Black Badger Gulley and up again untill Littlewolf thought surely they were on the top of the world. When Silverwolf stopped again Littlewolf noticed a pool of clear sparkling water. May i drink from this spring wolf? But wolf was gone again. Littlewolf decided it would be ok and preceded to quench his thirst. When done Littlewolf looked around and thought... This must surely be where Wise One Above lives.

As Littlewolf looked he saw such beauty that it moved his heart. It beat so strong with pride in all that he saw. This was his homeland. His father's father had told him many wonderful stories, but he had not realized just how beautiful this land really was. He felt the love and pride shine from his own eyes,as he gazed on the glory of nature before him.

As Littlewolf gazed around thoughtfully Silverwolf walked from the shelter of trees off to one side. Oh wolf It's so wonderful, thank you for this gift. Silverwolf lowered his head for a moment then looked to the east. There Littlewolf iswhere Winddancer will come from soon...As Littlewolf looked he saw clouds, not the light puffy clouds that float so easy,but dark clouds that danced and skittered across the sky. Littlewolf realized that they were the same clouds that came when "Lightning Boy" and "Rain Girl" danced.

The wind began to blow with almost enough force to knock Littlewolf off his feet.
He looked to Silverwolf for some kind of sign that they should find shelter, but wolf just stood there with the rain and wind staring at Littlewolf. Well thought Littlewolf if we must stand in the wind & rain wolf must have a reason. Littlewolf looked at the clouds again and started seeing shapes in the clouds. One looked like a rabbit, another like a bear,but then Littlewolf could'nt believe his eyes when thr dark clouds parted & the most beautiful cloud Littlewolf had ever seen moved towards him. The wind was blowing wildly but this cloud just floated like on a warm summer breeze. As it got closer Littlewolf realized that this beautiful cloud was in the shape of a very beautiful woman. As she came closer her image became clearer, as she smiled at Littlewolf the dark clouds moved away and the sun peeked from behind her.

Winddancer spoke to Littlewolf with her mind and she said...Littlewolf I am called Winddancer, I bring the winds and the rains for our people on Mother Earth so that their food can grow and the animals have plenty to eat and drink, I ride the winds to overlook our lands and try to make it healthy for all people and animals to live well. Littlewolf to you i say it is very important that you let people know that they must learn to live in harmony with Mother Earth, Father Sun, Moon Maiden,The Star Children,Lightning Boy and Rain Girl, and me Winddancer. Give much respect to all and they will in return give you respect.

Also Littlewolf remember i am everywhere and nowhere and anytime you have need of me,just look in your minds eye and call for me and i will be here for you. You see Littlewolf your spirit guide is Silverwolf but the Wise One Above has blessed you even more.Because of your pure heart you will have two spirit guides, the second spirit guides name is Winddancer.

Littlewolf was stunned "two spirit guides" What a wonderful and humbling thing
that "Wise One Above" has done for me.Then Winddancer said to Littlewolf, it is because of who and what you are Littlewolf that has caused "Wise One Above" to bless you in this way, and with that said Winddancer smiled and moved away humming a familiar tune on a gentle breeze.

Littlewolf's heart was filled with joy "two spirit guides" I can't wait to tell GeeMawMaw and GeeBahBah. As Littlewolf pondered this Silverwolf came to him and told him it was time....Time thought Littlewolf? Silverwolf walked up to Littlewolf and put his paws on Littlewolf's chest, you will from this day forward be known as..."Silverwolf", the boy Littlewolf is no more. you are now a man with a man's name. Silverwolf...as with Winddancer if you ever have need of me, call to me in your minds eye and i will be there.

The next thing Silverwolf remembered was waking up on his pallet in the giant tree. Startled he looked around and thought surely it was'nt a dream..was it? Unsure what to think Silverwolf glanced down,and on his chest was a wolf's paw print right above his heart. It was'nt dirt or berry juice or anything like that. It just was! His proof of the wonderful journey that Silverwolf and Winddancer had shared with him. And the peace in knowing that one day he could tell his children and grandchildren how Littlewolf became Silverwolf and the beautifulWinddancer that speaks to him in the softess breeze.
