The Battle of Blown Out Knee
by

The young warrior stopped and looked around his unfamiliar
surroundings. He had rarely been to such a place and he stared in awe at the
room and everything in it.

Walking in he had seen Sun Chief smiling down on him and glimmering
over the shimmering water of the pool before him. A young maiden was bathing
in Sun Chief's rays as she layed out on the rough, hard bank of the water.

This maiden was a young, Napikwan princess and she had on a very thin,
sapphire colored breechcloth and another breechcloth on her chest, but it
barely covered her body at all. The warrior, Blown Out Knee, smiled to
himself thinking how these Napikwan women must barely survive wearing such
pitiful clothing with so little fat when Cold Maker decided to bring his
medicine down on this land.

Standing in the room, Blown Out Knee, stretched his muscles as he
recalled the pale skinned maiden and how brightly Sun Chief had shown on
her. He marveled at the whiteness of her skin and how it glared so much. He
had come to think that most Napikwans were part Cherokee, but this one must
not have been any at all, due to her extremely pale skin, fair hair and
round, non fry breadlike buttocks.

Blown Out Knee felt funny when he was staring at the maiden, like the
time when he was in the Two Medicine river and a silver swimmer got caught
in his breechcloth. It was no wonder Sun Chief was shining down on her, but,
alas, Blown Out Knee, knew his Tipi mate, Busting Drug Runner, would not
allow him to bring another white skinned Napikwan princess back to the tipi.

Busting Drug Runner had been given bad medicine by the last Napikwan
woman that had came over. In leaving she took many fine horses and much of
his valuable possessions. To add insult to injury, Blown Out Knee had moved
in shortly afterward, which added to the misery of Busting Drug Runner
considerably since Blown Out Knee was known to tell many, many, many
stories, especially when he had too much of the Napikwan's firewater
medicine.

As Blown Out Knee stretched he began to eye down the beast that stood
before him in the room. He had many battles in the past with beasts like
this one and had always lost, but this time would be different. He was
determined to add this beast to his flock and knew that this would make him
a powerful, respected man among his tribe.

Blown Out Knee walked over to the beast touching it briefly before
moving quickly out of it's way, counting coup before they actually engaged
in battle. The beast stood there very still, but Blown Out Knee new it was
saving it's powerful medicine for the battle.

Blown Out Knee jumped on the wild beast in a flash, hurriedly pushing
down on the back of it's cold, hard, steely neck. The beast bucked wildly
and began running, but he stayed on and began running along with it as well.

His reflection was shining off of the wall back at him, as if he was
looking into the waters of a lake, and Blown Out Knee could see that both he
and the beast had settled into a rhythm and this would now be a battle of
wills. The first bead of sweat dripped down his head. Blown Out Knee closed
his eyes and thought of Napikwan women. Lots and lots of them.

It had seemed as long as Cold Maker's medicine lasts around the
Backbone of the World, but was considerably less. Blown Out Knee had been
feeling fine and thought this might be the time he would conquer the beast
and his heart raced from the effort as well as the anticipation of victory.
How fine this beast would look outside his tipi, The finest in all of the
Suputsis Eater's camp. Certainly finer than the Road Racer of Busting Drug
Runners that was sitting in the tipi corner gathering dust. The Road Racer
was tall, too tall for Blown Out Knee, but it was no match for this poweful
beast.

The Suputsis Eater's were part of the Pikuni Band of the Blackfeet
Tribe and were camped many moons north closer to Cold Maker and his home.
Blown Out Knee had flown, flown like an eagle in the Napikwan's Bird Machine
down to the land of Sun Chief, and the Many Tan Lines (Navajo) in order to
go to a Napikwan learning place. Blown Out Knee would learn the Napikwan
language, learn there secrets, tame there metal beasts and then go back to
the camp of the Suputsis Eaters. Many enemies would be struck. Many would
cry when Blown Out Knee had brought back the beasts he would tame.

Blown Out Knee begin to feel a sharp pain in his side. Like the time he
was dancing with Very Protective Man's daughter, Under Age Girl during the
big ceremony and he tried to take her down in the trees by the river. Very
Protective Man caught him and threatened his testicles, but instead shanked
Blown Out Knee in the side with an arrow head. Blown Out Knee stilled
carried the scar, which was his first battle wound.

The beast continued running faster and in steeper territory. The pain in
Blown Out Knee's side had begun to burn like fire and he struggled to keep
up. It felt almost as bad as the Fire Water Pee bad medicine that Blown Out
Knee had caught from a chicano maiden in a Pay To Make Love house in the
camp of Many Fiestas in what the Napikwan's call Tijuana. Blown Out Knee had
to go to the Napikwan healing house and get little medicine beads from the
head Napikwan Medicine Man to cure him of peeing fire water. Powerful is
this Medicine Man's medicine. Very powerful.

Blown Out Knee had begun to see visions he had been running with the
beast for so long. He had seen Night Red Light, and her little lights
shining all around her. His breathing was labored and he could only continue
on in the hope that his vision would lead him to victory. He now wished he
did not see the Napikwan Princess when he walked in. She had distracted him.
Distracted him from victory. It had been his curse ever since the Floppy
Eared Jumper had become his power animal. He had the constant urge to
multiply just like his brother and it cost him many battles. Blown Out Knee
knew that the beast had won this time, so he stepped off.

Blown Out Knee would go back to his tipi, waiting for the young Napikwan
to come to his door carrying the cardboard box to bring the flat, bannock
bread with cheese and venison on it. Then he would feast and watch the Dark
Skins defeat the Napikwans on his Vision Box, while the Bald Guy Who Speaks
Thunder, talks on and on about the great warriors, Prime Time Performer and
Most Valuable Player.

Then Blown Out Knee will make battle plans to attack the beast again
when Sun Chief rises and becomes strong again. He will drink the Napikwan's
Black Medicine, wake Busting Drug Runner then avoid the beast's princess
traps on his way to gaining its medicine. Then again, Blown Out Knee
probably will just sleep all day, lay on the couch, eat more bannock bread
with cheese and venison while watching the Vision Box and icing his knees.
